After 8 days at the same weight recently I felt like screw it and fell off the wagon and a whole 10" donair pizza. Then the next day I decided to shake things up and instead of 3 meals per day & a 10- 12 hour fasting window, try same amount of food in 2 meals and a 15-17 hour fasting window instead. 2 reasons. I can unexpectedly wake up at 3am and not be able to get back to sleep, cutting short my intended 12 hr minimum fast period as I'm most hungry the moment I wake up. Secondly, in spite of last eating as late as 6pm my stomach would feel nauseous from hunger I believe due to portion size and like I was unsatisfied (3 small meals per day). So I kind of stumbled across what seems a solution that works for me. I occasionally have what I call a carb cheat on my work days.( my logic being my job can be pretty physical in walking & lifting so best to cheat on 1 of those days than my lazy wknds off). And a cheat for me is like a great burger & shake. Or pizza. But my deal with myself is no eating the rest of the day. And, I found I really have no hunger for the rest of the day! And at a minimum I wouldn't gain weight on 2 meal days like that. sometimes I actually still lost weight as well. So I've been doing the 2 meal thing for 3 or 4 days now and losing better than 1 lb per day. And no late day hunger pangs. I'm certainly not advocating a junk food diet..but I'm a big believer in the benefits of daily fasting and low carb eating. i've been 21.6 lb lower than I am today. i used to say I'm sugar addicted but I believe now I am carb addicted and get the best results and feel bad when I eat low carb. what has really hit me lately is watching my kids and my ex working out religiously at least 5 days a week and while getting stronger, not getting the results they hoped to achieve. my ex wants to lose 25-30 lb. My son, get rid of a bit of baby fat. my daughter lose 10 lb. I've given them the info I have on fasting, they've seen me lose the weight and tell me they can see the benefit but I think they struggle to deal with the idea of no night time snacking, never mind stop eating by 5pm. For me its always been straight forward. i hate working out...ie the gym. Be damned if I'm going to work out 5 days a week to lose if I'm lucky, 1lb. I've been on a journey with weight challenges and bad eating for as long as I can remember. I'm 57 and I can remember my grade 1 photos and being pudgy so it's been a 50 year struggle anyway. I don't believe its as simple as calories in and out. Definitely part of it but I believe our bodies are machines that count on being run efficiently. Low carb I think is the biggest part of that. Having first done low carb 5 years ago then slipping back into my carb addiction, I know it to be true. 1 day at a time!
