GlennM's Journal, 17 June 2010

I'm doing well. Got to bed early last night and I'm already up. And I have so much to do today. I already have the book for the library book club in my collection in paperback but it is a long read and I have been so busy and only have three weeks to read it, I'll give it a try. I decided I am going to watch the morning news programs that are on in Spanish from now on to become more fluent. Alcohol this week (and bread) caused a weight gain, so I need to stop with both for a while, and after a few beers one is hungry too! The weather is going to get hotter later in the week. My leg tendon is healing slowly. It is misting out now at almost 6 a.m. but I think it is supposed to be mostly sunny today. I really plan on taking Spanish this fall. I am quite anxious to learn French too like perhaps I may be able to live in Montreal if I get published instead of going to Europe right away, I know I'm going inevitably. I did watch news this morning already in English but am going to watch the national news probably from now on in Spanish to speed up picking up the language. The writing is going well, so many things to write. I did get a printer the other day. I will try to hook it up today. I have to go try and get eyeglasses today too, can't find my reading ones, what a hassle. No responses from women on the dating site I'm on and only one of them even had a picture up, the rest didn't. Maybe it's because I don't drive, no car. If I was in a city it wouldn't matter. I need to write a synopsis for my books (the two in final draft form anyway), and talk to a woman I know who knows where to send this stuff now that I will have a printer. Within a week or two I am sure I will have query letters sent out and be on my way hopefully to getting an agent and or a publisher. I'm feeling optimistic long-term about my writing career and that I will likely be living in Europe or Asia in ten years and be successfully published... :) Well, I watched not even an hour of Spanish morning news. It's almost all about rights for illegal immigrants. And some lawyer was on scaring people about their children who are born here not being able to be citizens. (The problem is the parents aren't citizens but they didn't bring that up). A caller had a sick child and was asking could it become a citizen because it was ill. I understand they're here. Nothing is going to be done about it, I lived in Los Angeles twenty years ago and all the wealthy people I worked for hired undocumented illegals and that is why they're here. Somebody had to hire them in the first place and that is why they are coming here and also the government needs all the young people it can get in the future to be working to be paying into Social Security. Enough of that --- I understand they're here, there's no stopping it as long as wealthy people keep hiring them...

I do appreciate the word of the day. Interesting word. I enjoy wine and do have a 6-oz glass of Merlot every night. Good for the heart, but I have to go to the dentist every 4 months for a cleaning - LOL . Well, lets get you published first and then make plans later. When things are rolling along, you can vacation in Europe, visit Montreal and live in Asia - LOL. Where ever you go, just be sure what you do makes you happy. There are a lot of materialistic folks out there Glenn and you don't want to be tied to someone who is like that. Be patient, time will take care of itself. Just be yourself, and someday when you least expect it, the right person will come along. For now, concentrate on getting your career off the ground. Have a good evening and will talk to your tomorrow.

You sound very serious about learning Spanish and watching the news is a great method for accomplishing that. Try to put the brakes on the chart in as gentle way as possible as you don't want it to get away from you. I'm sure that you know what you are doing though.

Thanks Next Number - I have to cut the alcohol out as my weight is going up. Bread is out too now after today until the 4th when there is a picnic here. Unfortunately, I am finding no women interested in me because I have no $ now. I will focus on my writing. Most women are looking for someone to at least pay half the bills and I can't do that honestly. I'm a fairly wild guy and it may be my fate to never settle down since if I have money in the future no women will get a cent of it because they didn't want me when I was down and out. I am one who believes very much in charity, and I think I will be successful with the writing in part because the money won't be squandered by my heirs but will go to worthy causes and since I'm guiding my life toward that energy only good things can happen. Info - yes! I have to get this under control! No booze. (No women - they don't want a 47-yr-old without money anyway in America), And since the no alcohol I will not gain anymore, and will definitely stop eating bread this week. Also, I haven't been able to exercise because of my tendon so that isn't helping matters any, as soon as I can I will be walking and biking all around. I am hoping so much to move to another apartment complex about a mile and a half from here, it is more in the country and Toto and I can walk in the forest there. It is close to Smith College grounds - the famous female college here in town many prominent women have graduated from. Bruce told me I look under 40, but I shouldn't be lying about my age to meet younger women... anyway, thanks both of you for checking in. I will try to write on your journals after midnight probably...
