NM, don't know if this will help...for sure I still have a "sweet tooth", some things I can control portion size and subsequently calorie intake easily...other things not so much, we try not to have those kind of things (sounds like Ben & Jerry's) in the house very often...if at all. I'm sure some of our other buddies have better advice for you too. Take care and have a great week!!

I am not sure if this will work for everyone and it may sound weird but here is what I do. I fast for a day. When the fast is through, my sweet craving is dead. EVERYTHING tastes great after a fast so I get an impressive sense of satisfaction from foods that would have otherwise left me uninspired. The downside is that while this helps my sweet craving, it wreaks havoc on any workout inclinations. When sugar plums start dancing in my head, fasting acts as a quick reset for me. Best of luck!

I was craving sweets yesterday. Ended up eating 3 of my husbands snack size Snicker bars. Logged them. Still craving so I made a flax bread but added some Torani syrup and it filled me up. I think the flax fiber does that. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions, but even when I am full, I have the cravings. I dont know if it is more a nervous desire since right now my nerves are on edge or if I really am craving sweets. I am going to try the fast since I havent been able to work out at the gym in a bit.

I like cottage cheese with a little stevia and cinnamon, and a couple of crushed almonds. Takes the edge of the sweet tooth and fills you up! Give it a shot.

I have ate the last two avocados that I had and will start my fast in the morning. Maybe that will give my body a "restart" and my cravings will quit.

The more we feed the beast - the longer it stays around. Sometimes I brush my teeth, drink down a very large glass of water, make a protein shake that seems like a sweet - anything to distract myself until it passes

try larabars! they are naturally sweet, and might satisfy your craving!

I agree with HCB - if you feed the beast it hangs around. If in doubt, go with fewer carbs, and If in doubt, go with more fat.

Atkins always said to eat macadamias if you're craving sweets. What I think might be going on with you is that the antibiotics have caused extra yeast growth and yeasts love sugar. Don't feed them! If you haven't already, start taking a probiotic to overcome those little b*stards. The fast will probably help, too - but you may find it is more of a struggle.

Very good advice here. Don't forget "who" is in charge. 😍

You are the master of your own domain! It helps me to think what I want most: a) that cookie after which I will want another one and another one or b) to look good and feel confident which will happen if I pass on cookies :P

I did total abstinence from sugar but after a few weeks its gets hard. I now eat two apples a day. One after lunch and dinner. Its just enough to curb the sugar cravings i may get and under the level of sugar for my body type not to stored as fat. you can find what works for you. I also get frozen yogurt once a week on a workout day after my dinner.

I may not have succeeded in fasting today but I am not craving the sweets so much today. I have only ate 4oz of cottage cheese for breakfast, 3oz boars head chicken breast, 2 sticks string cheese and now am eating my snack of 3oz cauliflower. So far so good as for the sweets. I also have a container of Altoids at my desk so if it gets too bad, I will just have a couple of them. They seem to help.

I don't crave sweets often but when I do I often find a sweet protein shake hits the spot. I hate drinking them really as they're processed and full of unnatural sweeteners. I try to eat natural if I can, but if I'm really craving sweet food, they work and don't damage my diet.

I keep grapes frozen in the freezer for such times...a few seem to take off the edge and the damage isn't terribly off program.

My boss, a nutritionist, would probably say that the antibiotics kill the good gut flora (along with infections) which may be why you've experienced cravings. Get some good probiotics as soon as possible (not Holland & Barratt, which are rubbish - good ones) and dose yourself up. Good luck on this.

PS Holland & Barratt are a UK brand company, like CVS, Wallgreens, etc. They buy supplements and relabel/pack with their name on the labels. Their sources and quality are what I call "broad" and you pay less but often it's poorer quality. Find a good nutritional supplements company (shop or online) and check the quality of their supplements.
