May i get the community's opinion on goat cheese? i tried it and so far i like it. It doesnt seem to have the calories that regular cheese has. But i made a mistake this morning when i bought some more i think...the brand that i bought this morning has a little more saturated fat then the other brand i bought. I didnt notice it until i got home.

JP, what about the saturated fat. it says for 1 oz there is 3.5g of it.

Cheese = Saturated Fat; if you care about that, then you know what to do. I love cheese, but don't have the calorie bandwidth to accommodate as much as I would like.

well as far as my calorie count, i can accommodate it. I wont worry about it since it is healthier than regular cheese

If you haven't tried Feta (greek goat cheese), give it a shot next time. It's the most healthful I have found.

Have you tried making guacamole?

I saw the Feta cheese but wasnt sure about it. This is the first time i have tried any type of cheese other than cheddar. i will buy a small thing of the feta and see if i like it.I did try blue cheese one time and that was enough for me.As for guac...no i havent tried to make it.

Love love love it! and! it freezes well! I think unless you are eating a ton of it you shouldn't worry too much.. Its tasty and small amount will do ya. I use a 1/2 once on salads etc.

Not a fan of goat cheese. If I see it on the menu, i ask for Gorgonzola substitute.

You're right, goat cheese (and sheep's milk cheese, which is often used for feta) are both better for you than cow's. If you like it - wonderful! Also, we need saturated fat for many body functions so don't worry about it. Pretty much all the science that vilified it has been shown to be wrong.

you know i saw the sheep cheese in the store as well. wasnt sure about it or how it would taste so i stuck with goat cheese. might have to try that one as well as the feta.

I like sheep cheese better than goat - it's a bit milder. You're doing so well!

It's fine, Navymom - as long as I can identify myself in the lineup! I was 64 when I started using the site for "tracking" my diet - 'bout time I finished the weight-loss task two years after the fact. (Though at one point I did get to 170 and regained...)
