Greetings Buddies!

Thank you to all who tolerated my rant yesterday and commented. First, my DH is a great person but on the "celebration" point, he does poorly. Second, I am very grateful he is in my life so those who are without a partner, I understand and was not complaining about him in general. Third, I did tell him how hurt I was that he had nothing planned two weeks before my birthday - so he still had ample time to make a plan. And, finally, I know I can plan and celebrate myself - I wanted to celebrate with him.

The fabulous thing is I was hurt and angry and did NOT eat anything off my program - I did not eat my sadness, my disappointment, or my anger. THAT is the best gift to give to myself. Self-control and a focus on my health.

Yesterday at the gym, I brought hard boiled eggs, string cheese and strawberries for the class to help me celebrate being 60 years old - and chest pressing those 30lb dumb bells!

Words of the week:
"The task ahead of you is never greater than the strength within you."

I am dedicated, determined and diligent.

Yes you did well. It would have been a great temptation to curl up with a (insert favorite junk food) and eat yourself silly. At least you got to celebrate with your gym mates.

Congratulations for not taking your emotional hurt out on YOURSELF! I, too, have a DH that doesn't do celebrations very well. Over the past several years, he's tried to improve, but he's never going to be a surprise, sweep-me-off-my-feet kinda guy. There's a book out there, something like "The Five Love Languages." A great read that explains a lot! I passed the same birthday milestone earlier this spring....at least it's easy to remember the right answer when someone asks my age! :)
