HCB's Journal, 31 March 2015

Greetings Buddies:

I am in a "snarly" mood today. I have to go on a business trip for a training in mid-April that will last one week.

So, I have asked the hotel for small refrigerator and possibly microwave for my room so I can make Bulletproof coffee, and my smoothies, and keep almond milk, etc. BUT, they cannot "guarantee" they can provide it!

AND, I called to talk to the Fitness Center to ask f they had free weights and an elliptical - so the hotel says the Fitness Center is "CLOSED for renovations". WHHAAATT? They cannot "guarantee" the center will reopen as scheduled on April 6th!

The stupid place is a luxury retreat center that costs $200 a day for six days! Give me a break!

NOT pleased with this - thank you for letting me vent!

Words of the week:
"Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

I am dedicated, determined, and diligent

Yes - I could do some floor work and bring resistant bands, etc. BUT the point is the place is a SPA and RETREAT and they advertise a ton of amenities. I did not choose the place - the training group chose the place.

good luck with the hotel, I hope they actually have everything you need or have asked for when you get there.

i used to work in the hotel industry ,, give em a call and ask for their sales department and explain you need the fridge bc you have food allergies.. I know its stretching the truth but they can prolly get you what you need.. ask where the nearest fitness center is .. then call and see if you can get a week for free... my gym does it as a "trial" , try 24/7 if its in that area or Golds .. or the nearest school and you can at least walk some laps.. good luck and u hope get your fridge ...

My husband has a 7 day coleman cooler we take on fishing trips. It truely stays cold for 7 days. The hotel should have an ice machine so you can refresh your supply.

Any chance you can change Hotels? I would definitely expect a very big discount with the fitness center being under reno. After all, you are paying for that perk. It may be a good idea if it is a chain hotel to contact someone higher up and keep going higher up so that they have time to do something for you. Sometimes if you contact the right person, they will make all the adjustments you need and make your stay special.

These are some great suggestions!

These are great suggestions! The conference lasts six days and takes place on the site - and it is out in the countryside of Connecticut - so no other hotels nearby...AND the hotel advertised that you could request a refrigerator so I was not asking for something unusual. But, I will look for alternative gym!

Sounds like they could have just reserved a Holiday Inn. They've really been renovating their hotels. That really sucks, I hope they clean up their act.

I was thinking, you could ask the hotel for a week at another gym since their's is closed.

I'd think since they cannot provide as promised that they should refund your money.
