Day 5! Into this "10-day detox diet" and grateful for a way to connect with my cousin and one of my friends, who are doing the "cleanse" with me. For me it is a bit of mindfulness of how often I reach for a piece of bread, candy, cake, or french fry. Supposedly the 10-day detox will, you know, supposedly clean out toxins, but really it's a way to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, good fats, and measured amounts of proteins with the recommended amount of fiber each day. I am eating mostly according to my 1000 calorie a day planning, with no punishment if I go off the board. I am tracking what I eat, looking long term for a sustainable way to eat. I know where I am at and how far off the path I can stray. Substituting kashi bars for chocolate candies, made my own protein bars instead of the vending machine. Seriously bumped up the amount of fiber I am ingesting and that is going ok with only one gassy day. (Sorry coworkers! I tried to run the fan all day.) My mom once remarked, years ago, that it was easy for her to go on a diet because she liked all kinds of food, so why not only eat the things that were on the plan? She maintained her weight for a long time, eating a macrobiotic diet (plus meat), actually, if anyone remembers that word! This morning I added strawberries to the shake - not going to do that again. My lunch is packed for work, and I have pea soup for a snack. I made the goya recipe, but then added mint and the flavor reminds me of spring, even though it's snowing today, yes, April 19, it is snowing. Have a great day - thank you for all the support!
