Advice needed Allan - gym staff have advised me if I want to put muscle on and tone up - need protein power ?? They recommend USN GF1 ?? Looked at protein powder and it’s like a mine field ?? Any recommendations?

As a powerlifter/amateur fighter i have to say "looking solid brother!", my answer to gary would be the best protein powder I've used during a recomp is optimum nutrition gold standard whey!

Hi Gary, i have used many including Gold Standard Optimum Whey. I currently use USN GF1 and it’s pretty good on quality and taste. Plus it’s a lot cheaper than Optimum! I find it better than Optimum in terms of results. I buy mine from Amazon, I will post a picture for you. To grow muscles you need to get enough protein for your body weight. I use 2g per kg so at the moment 180g. You may find you can clear your protein macros quick so half the suggested 2scoops. To burn body fat food wise, you workout your calories needed to maintain your current weight and then take away 300-500 calories. This should be recalculated as you loose weight. (This applies to general weight loss) once you have your figures, be sure to keep your protein intake as per body weight (2g per kg) otherwise you will lose muscle. Next swap your carbs to complex carbs so brown rice, sweet potatoes etc plenty of veggies. Fats from avocado and salmon walnuts etc. So no animal fat. Lean meat such as turkey chicken breast. As you lose weight remember to readjust your macros keeping protein at 2g per kg. Important to drink at least 2litres of water! Water is needed not only to hydrate you but aids in weight loss!
