This is my first public journal entry. I don't know if this is going to help me to change the way I do things as far as losing weight is concerned, but I am willing to give it a try.
I know what I need to do to lose weight. It is more than a diet, it is a life change. I know that I have to control the amount of and type of foods that I consume. I also know that I have to move around more than I do to help the process. And furthermore, I know that I have to be selfish and make the time for myself to make this happen. After spending the past 20 years taking care of others, I have to spend time taking care of myself. And if that means that they are going to have to help out and cook or wait for dinner - so be it. My attitude has to change. I need to be #1 from now on.
I am going to try this for a while and see if it helps me change the way I do things. Wish me luck because I know it will be a challenge to begin with. I will try to write everyday to begin with.

I was a journalling skeptic myself before I started on here almost 3 weeks ago. I am a total believer now! The act of writing things down seems to bring many "Aha!" moments so it helps you understand yourself more. I think you will get addicted and keep at it just like me!
