Not preaching, but would like to comment. Watermelon does have natural sugar as most fruits or vegetables. A good size watermelon may have up to 17g of natural sugar for the entire melon. What does this mean? In short, it means you can eat it even if your a person on a diet, however as with all things you would use moderation. In other words, don't eat it everyday. If your diabetic you can have this as well, but may want to limit the size or pieces you eat. Additionally, if you ate this, you would eliminate another choice for that day as to not consume to many calories of sugar (as I would call -->stabilization). Trading" this for that" if you will. But a key point, Watermelon is made of 85 to 90% water, so you can actually use this to eat as a snack while quenching a small amount of thirst for a short period of time. Remember natural sugars (portion controlled) are healthy to have as you need sugar from time to time in your body. It is the processed sugars (manmade/factory processed) that are most dangerous.... if these are consumed, it leads to a slippery slope. These processed sugars have ingredients which trigger active points in the brain which cause cravings. The more processed sugars (known as empty calories)i.e. candy bars, cereals, boxed noodles, and more; the more your body will want to consume thus adding fat due to storing the larger quantities of processed sugars. The Pancreas, Liver cannot often times keep up producing insulin to combat these sorts of sugars. Natural sugars eaten in reasonable measures are healthy.... ;-)

Write I agree with everything except the slippery slope part.

N if u eat a candy and ur body ask for more, we can use our self control to avoid overconsumption

It’s hard I know, but when we are determined to change our lifestyle, it becomes normal

You should educate yourself before you speak watermelon is probably the healthiest food you could eat for your heart fact! Not to mention it is loaded with fiber it tops the list of super foods research it yourself I eat it every day along with apples pears and all berries and my weight is steady and I am never ever hungry

Sugar is sugar. Nothing wrong with any type in moderation. Your body treats it the same no matter the source. Fruit is healthier because of the vitamins and fiber it contains, though.

I think the point was misunderstood....I was stating persons who have sugar issues do not want to consume so much of this. They may be getting natural or processed sugars through other items eaten during the course of a day. So you would not want over indulge or elevate the sugar levels if your diabetic, nor would you want to store exorbitant amounts of sugar as it would later be stored and converted to fat if your body does not expel large amounts rapidly. Remember, the Pancreas, Liver, and Kidney functions help deliver, dilute, excrete, release insulin, and more to maintain proper body function. Overloading these body parts would result in damage. Yes, We know watermelon is healthy no one disputed that fact. Some persons seem to think all people and there bodily functions are the same. In an ideal world yes, we known we are all comprised and made up of the same---but people vary in how their bodies process or fail to process foods. Hence the additional statement made about candy, cereals and other man-mad/manufactured processed sugars. Any nutritionists, dietician, or doctor which is 'worth their weight' so to speak will tell you to moderate and try minimal amounts of processed materials as it is not good for you. This was the comment I was trying to make. Hope this provides some more clarity. Additionally, the slippery slope comment -> I was making a point that some persons who have little self control or may have a food addiction has no control over the craving ---the craving controls them. For those of us who do have a handle on things an occasional cereal or candy bar wouldn't affect us so much. Just the opposite holds true for those with eating disorders as the brain signals are crossed creating a bigger problem and strong urges to indulge. Was not creating an argument....sorry for any misunderstanding. ;)

This is a calorie counting website, it is assumed that you're having fruit that fits into your daily goals. You cannot store fat in a deficit so your statement about converting sugar to fat would not apply to anyone in a deficit. Humans process foods the same no matter what race, age or gender. Unless you have a peer-reviewed study where they found this not to be true, that statement is also false. Reasons to avoid processed foods is that they are highly palatable and yes, easier to over-consume with little nutritional value most of the time. Otherwise, eaten in moderation, there is nothing wrong with them. Just don't let them comprise 50% of your diet most of the time.

I mean, unless you have an allergy to certain foods or are a diabetic and want to avoid spiking your BS too much, you simply need to watch your calories.

Again, I was making a blanket statement, I will not argue, I stated in both prior comments -->moderation....It should not be assumed all persons know how to determine caloric intake (whether from fats/carbs/proteins/sugars/etc.) While you and I may know, there are many out there which may not. Some may perhaps be just starting out on FS without this type of knowledge. It should also be known that many persons are not in deficit this is why you have so many persons seeking knowledge on how to reduce caloric intake in accordance to certain criterion to lose weight/fat. There are also numerous persons here with medical or eating disorders which may have to eat or retrain to eat in a new manner. But to each their own, I think some things were just lost in translation here more or less. I harbor no ill will....thanks for the extra thoughts and comments. I know there are many persons here seeking to lose fat/weight, maintain and control weight, and or increase lean muscle mass. I Wish you all well in your endeavors.

People with medical conditions should follow what dr. Has told them.

For a regular healthy person, fruit in moderation just like diablo said, is always a ideal

Carbs and Protein are both potent insulin stimulators. Not sure why it matters. Insulin suppresses appetite and is not needed for fat storage anyway. A calorie surplus will cause you to store fat even when insulin levels are low. https://weightology.net/insulin-an-undeserved-bad-reputation/
