Alright, here we go. I started up again with the low carb thing to have more energy for vacation with the family. I knew that my energy level would go down at first, but then go up. The first week was hard, but not as bad as I feared. My motivation was not the waistline, but when I stated noticing that clothes were not as tight and it had been three weeks, I got on the scale: down 15 lbs. from 232 to 217.
I am not doing straight Atkins, but sort of my own little twist. No sugar, starchy veggies or flour or other grains, complex carbs only occasionally and are kept to a minimum (ie: a bite or two of mom's lemon rice, not a full serving) I can have fresh fruit, but not fruit juice. Try to eat three cups of lettuce a day. The less processed the better, and homemade is better than restaurant every time. My rule of thumb: Skip the cheap carbs, and if you want some go for the good ones & have them very small quantity (again only a small bite or two to avoid that sacrifice feeling.)
Rather than taking on a daunting goal, I think I will just go with it for another three weeks and see where it takes me.
