Day 440

Calories Expended 2943
Calories Consumed 1904
Weight 182.2 (up 1 lb)

Simple math and no dilly dallying!! LOL!! Clearly I ate more yesterday than a 'typical' day but it was good food. Went a little overboard on hummus and pita chips last night and also treated myself to 2 light beers. But no worries and no regrets. One lb up isn't really anything and most likely due to the sodium in the 2 Fresco Taco Bell tacos I ate for lunch and the sodium on the pita chips. A normal fluctuation. For once I am not feeling 'bad' about the scale!!

I find myself continuing to tell myself 'I am disciplined and I like that about me!" I am enjoying pushing myself a little harder in my work out on the elliptical. It is difficult!! It is a challenge!! I may 'forget' this again temporarily but I've realized that working out isn't ever going to be 'easy' ... it is supposed to be a challenge!! LOL!! I think I was living with the illusion that someday it would just be a 'snap' sort of like the illusion that someday I will be 'done' with needing to pay attention to what I put in my mouth!! Today will be a good day as will tomorrow and the next and the next after that. Indeed, I'll return from Mexico, likely with an increase on the scale but it will be temporary and I will come back home to my normal routine and soon I will be right back in my groove. How's that for optimism???

There is a winter wonderland outside my window!! It started snowing yesterday afternoon and is still snowing as I type. We had virtually no snow on the ground and now it is completely white. The wind is blowing, it's about 29 degrees outside, April!!! Right now it is 70 degrees in Puerto Vallarta with a high of 84 forecast!! Oh that warmth is going to feel lovely!!!

Today is laundry, beginning to make my packing list for the trip, and remaining hunkered down inside!! Oh yes, there is my lovely hour on the elliptical to look forward to as well!! Keeping up on the zinc and Emergen-C to stave off any colds or viruses is also on the horizon.

And so that brings me to ponder five things I am grateful for this fine snowy day ...

1. being able to spend a week in Mexico with the love of my life
2. feeling more 'at peace' with food and exercise
3. waking up hungry and taking the time to fix a delicious bowl of steel cut oats
4. chatting with my best friend last night for a bit ...
5. feeling rested, even though I woke several times last night I awoke each time headache FREE!!!

While I have deep spiritual beliefs I am not one much for traditional "Easter" celebrations and so this weekend is much like any other. The good thing about that is I will not have extra food temptations!! I am however, cognizant of the presence of the 'everlasting arms.' In addition to hearing "I am disciplined and I like that about myself" I am also hearing "Be still and know that I am God" and "underneath are the everlasting arms" fairly regularly in my mind these days. Times are very uncertain, in terms of health, in our economy, in our nation, in my own employment ... and yet in THIS moment I am not feeling panicked or stressed about it. As you all know, sometimes I do feel 'out of whack'!!! May we all find moments of peace and contentment today!! Enjoy your weekend, whatever it holds for you!!

The weather turned to windy and stormy here too! Hopefully no snow, but we went from a sunny and warm morning to a cold and windy day... That's what it is to live in the Rockies! I'm glad you don't have any headache today. Stay warm!
