R.I.P. Platinum Blonde Bailey :(

So I can officially say I have my first hair color accident/horror story. Last night my BFF managed to completely FFFFF up my hair. She used this stuff that literally turned my hair purple and COMPLETELY FRIED it. My roots are this lovely gold color and the rest was this greyish purple color. So we ran to CVS in hopes of finding something that would cover up the mistake. Although it looks better than it did I still have greyish hair and gold roots. I really debated calling in sick this morning since I don't own any hats. I am not angry it happened. I mean everyone has to have ONE of those hair horror stories, right? But I am angry because I wasn't ready to give up my pretty platinum blonde hair yet. I even started tearing up about it this morning on my way to work. I just want to rewind back to yesterday morning and trust my instincts that something wasn't right. I am terrified that my hair is just going to fall out. When it's wet it literally breaks in my hands. I think I am just going to suck it up for the weekend and try to fix it on Sunday. The problem is that I don't have too many options at this point. I will either sucessfully get it to the golden blonde color my roots are - which I am not sure I am a fan of, a little too close to Strawberry Blonde - or I will be dying it brown. The idea of having all one color hair kills me, but I won't be able to use anything with bleach in it at this point. I will be spending my lunch looking for a protein pack or something to try to replenish what has been stripped from it. I still could just cry. And the worst part is when we went to get the hair dye, she grabbed a bunch of sweet crap and I ate it. I hit roughly 1800 calories yesterday because of it. I was trying to overestimate tho.

Today is National Doughnut Day. I have already taken my misery out on a sugar doughnut. And of course, my coworker put them on my desk since it's the biggest. I have a feeling today will be a bad day. We have that memorial tonight.... luckily I will only know like 2 people. Then after that, I am couch bound. Hopefully not accompanied by a bottle of wine. I am only .4 pounds from where I was last weekend and I would like to see the same number or lower come tomorrow. Hopefully I can convice myself to hold on and not lose all my will power.

Hope everyone else is having a better day than I. Please pray I am able to keep my ass in check today.

Sorry about your hair! I'm sure you'll get it fixed and it will look great. Someone brought donuts to our office too, but luckily they went downstairs to the kitchen so I don't have to see them. Stay strong, keep thinking about that little .4 pounds. Take that hair stress out in a workout. You can do it!!

That really stinks! It's ok to be emotional about it. I think it's better to cry it out...might help you get it out of your system and avoid the emotional eating. Plus tonight will be tough too. Hang it there! Things will improve-they always do. In the meantime, maybe it's a good excuse to go hat shopping? :)

Oh no - so sorry about your hair!! :( I hope you can figure out how to fix it.. It would be better to be brown for awhile than have it all fall out!! Ugh... Stay strong and stay away from those donuts today - you've already had yours! Have some delicious Crystal Light tonight and put it in a wine glass.. it will be almost the same as the real thing... (**wink wink**)

How crappy! I can't imagine what I would do if I saw unintentional purple in my hair! (fyi, I college I did dye purple streaks in it on purpose for awhile. rebel). I agree, better a brunette than bald.

Thanks! and I think I might try crystal light in the wine glass... might have to get something other than the pink lemonade I have currently, so it at least looks like wine!

pink lemonade crystal light looks like white zin. :) Just don't do what I've done and make it a crystal light/vodka cocktail. I've had many hangovers from that!

Sorry about your hair! VO5 has a damage fixer thing that is very heavy and thick but it did seem to help my hair. Good Luck!

Hahahaha Lindsay! That's my go to when I am drinking vodka. I even have the fiance doing it!

I don't have any color horror, but I have had at least 4 AWFUL perms (my mom was a hairdresser-kinda), one really bad haircut which made me cry, and a self-cut story. So, I TOTALLY understand... Good luck on your fix, maybe in about 4-6 weeks you can go back to Platinum? Don't feel bad for crying about it, we all have! Hope it all works out hon!

Ohhhh no! I once got a brush stuck in my hair and had to cut off like 6 inches to fix it...and I was 30 when I did this too...lol. I hope your day gets better. BTW totally on board with the crystal light and vodka ...also very good- ocean spray sparkling diet cranberry (in the juice isle) with vodka.

I did not know it was donut day! That is so crazy cause I got donuts with the kids this morning and we never do that! Sorry about your poor hair! I used to keep my hair super blonde and I bought a new box of blonde dye once, went home and used it and then after putting it in realized this looks REALLY dark! Someone had switched the color bottle inside :( It came out black!! I cried too. Letting your hair rest for a few days I think is a good idea and I would probably get some good leave in conditioner for over the weekend. Good luck!

Silver toner, right? To take out the brassiness after you've bleached? It's SO easy to get that sh1t wrong and have it turn out like an old-lady-rinse. I sympathise. =(

I used to have platinum hair that I did myself-- my advice would be to wait at least a few days and do deep conditioning/ protein treatments and don't wash your hair with shampoo for a couple of days-- that'll strip it. Then try to re-bleach or re-tone only the roots, followed by more conditioning. The silver/grayness should tone itself down, but if it doesn't you could re-dye all of it light blonde after you do your roots. What I used as conditioner was this stuff from the ethnic section called cholesterol-- gross, right? But it really helps hair. If you do dye it brown you absolutely HAVE to dye it red first and then brown or it'll turn green-- the bleaching takes all of the red out of your hair so it will be gross mossy green-brown. I did that and it was awful. Either of these options will be really hard on your hair but it should bounce back if you're gentle with it. If too much starts coming out, I'd do the brown and keep it in a ponytail for a while if you can. Good luck and I hope this helps!

I'm so glad that your hair horror story brought me here, my mom was a hairdresser and I have so MANY hair horror stories of my own! I once had bright blondish orange hair because I have alot of red undertones in my dark brown hair. I ended up going back brown so that I wouldn't have to bleach it more and have it all break off. I smile now when I think back on it, but at the time I was mortified! It was the same story as you, me and my girlfriend were trying to do it on our own. ;-) Anyway, I'm glad it caught my eye because I got great tips on the crystal light!!! LOL! I'm going away with hubby this afternoon and was planning to drink straight vodka on the rocks tonight but now I'm heading to the supermarket to get some crystal light to throw into my purse! I'm trying to eat low carb, and it's hard to find a mixer that's low carb. Vodka and diet coke don't mix well. Hope you've figured out something that works for your hair! You could go RED (like me!) if you don't want to go brown! It fades fast and the blond will come out, but it will definitely hide the purple!
