youreabeautifulstar's Journal, 15 January 2008

I was browsing around and read on someones journal that their goal is to lose 10% of their weight, which I think is totally reasonable and a great idea. So I want to try to lost 10% of my weight in 6 weeks which would be down to 183lbs by February 27th which works out to 3.33lbs a week which really isn't too bad. But then I went crazy and wrote what my weight should be like every 6 weeks and by the end of September I should be 108lbs which seems like way too much in such a little amount of time. Nearly 100lbs in 8 months? It doesn't seem right. But it averages out to 10lbs a month which should be easy. But maybe it'd be better for my health to only do 5% and to allow my body to tone so I don't end up with mass amounts of sagging, which I probably will anyways. AH! I'm confused and worried. I don't want to lose weight if I'm going to come out with a body of a 60 year old, I don't know if it'd be worth it in the end

I was one of the ones who mentioned the 10%, and I haven't set any sort of time frame for myself. I too am nervous about sagging, thus the reason I want to take it nice and slow. Unfortunately, we're not all on "The Biggest Loser." ;) To be on the safe side, I'd recommend 4 months instead of three. Sure, it gives you 4 extra weeks, but that extra time can really come in handy, especially if you hit a plateau. You can do it! Just remember to get some strength training in with your cardio, and you'll do well.

Just remember to keep toning your body as you go this will help. Just take it one day at a time and get to a point that you are comfortable w/yourself and feel good about yourself. I wouldn't put so much on a "certain" weight. Don't forget muscle weighs more than fat.

Is doing weights at the gym the same as toning?

Defiantly keep working out as you go....it will help tone and lose all at once! Don't be too worried, you will be amazed at how great you will look as long as you keep doing the right things! Best of luck!
