Up at 3:30 for my run this morning. 1 1/4 mile warm-up at 11:45 pace; 3 mile tempo run, finishing up at 9:45 pace - jog another mile at 11:45 pace for cool-down - total 5 1/4 miles. Heartrate only got up to about 160 BPM. I'm thinking things are going pretty well so far in preparation for the next race - knocking on wood. 16 days and counting. An easy 2.0 mile run tomorrow, followed by a rest/cross-train day on Saturday, and then my 9.0 mile long run on Sunday. I'm talking to myself here - keeping myself on track.

DW is eating a sleeping most of the time. Gets up to watch her evening shows on TV and goes back to bed. Iron was low and she was anemic when she went in for the chemo treatment that they didn't do. She is tired all the time - and irritable I might add - though better last night than the night before. Her depression gets to me sometimes, but usually the next day, she won't think anything of what she might have said the night before. Be glad when these treatments are behind us.

Hard to believe this is Thursday already. The weekend is knocking at our door, and I am ready to greet it. As usual, lots to do, looking forward to it. Have a great day, my FS Friends!

How do you even function getting up at 3:30? I'd be a zombie all day. I hope the next race goes well, sounds like you know what you're doing. I had a mother-in-law go through chemo and she'd have good days and bad, and felt so horrible most of the time that the irratibility and depression were understandable. At least your wife has you to support her and help get her through this tough time. Good luck!!

There used to be an Army commercial where the 1st Sargeant said, "We do more before 5:00 AM than most people do all day." That's kind of been my life story, having spent over 24 years in the service between the Army and the Navy. If I sleep in on a weekend day until 6:00 or 7:00, do my long run, take care of the animals, have 2 or 3 cups of coffee and breakfast, and take a shower, it's 10 or 11 o'clock already, and the day is almost shot. I expect to be eating lunch around 11 or 12, having already put in 3 or 4 hours of decent work by then. That's why I don't stay up to the wee hours drinking jello shots and slammin down Tequillas. There's no way I could get myself out of bed to run, if I did that. It's just a discipline that I've tried hard to cultivate; still haven't quite gotten there, but figure I will by the time I grow up. :)

It's so cold here today that the people in the offices next to me think I'm typing my a$$ off, but it's my teeth chattering!

I thought it was hilarious, Ryan. DK, you are a good husband. Hope you're through the chemo quickly and successfully. You seem right on target for your event. PUMP IT UP (as our other resident comedian would say)!

(((hugs))) ... I felt I wanted to put that first, as you are being so patient and understanding towards your DW. I can 100% appreciate that you need your running and "you" time in - what would call the middle of the night.. I also appreciate, it is a discipline you have learned through you time in the services... Some things are difficult to throw off - and it is a pretty good discipline. :-)

DW will be through this tough time in no time, and she'll be looking back on it and appreciating the heck out of you for how patient and loving you are being, even if she doesn't see it all right now.. "sleep in on a weekend day until 6:00 or 7:00" - that phrase just doesn't even make sense to me... You're making me feel really guilty for sleeping in until 9 or 10:00 on the weekends. My bf was just laughing at me for saying we had to get up 'early' to go to my nephew's bday party on Saturday (we have to leave by 8 am).... ;) Someday I'll have 1/8 of the discipline that you have... Keep going strong on your training - your race is going to be awesome!
