I wonder if there are other OTR drivers here?
I do pretty good for a couple days, then go off track. Oh, I stay away from sweets, (as much as it pains me) never have liked things like chips and such, but I can tackle a fast food place and never lose a step. And the Truck Stops! Chuck full of fast food places!
I eat when I’m bored. I eat to stay awake, and driving is all about staying awake.
Going home every 2-3 months doesn’t give me a chance for stock piling good, healthy food, and my exercise consists mainly of running to the bathroom from the fuel island.
I’d be curious to see what other OTR drivers to.

Not an OTR truck driver but have to travel a lot for work. Definitely understand eating to stay awake! What helps me is buying and having healthier, low calorie snacks with me. (veggies and dip, granola bar, fruit, 100 calorie bag of pop secret popcorn) If snacks are not your thing, as you kinda said😊, you just have to plan your meals at the fast food places. Choose the grilled chicken sandwich and side salad at Wendy's instead of the single with fries. That will cut about 500 calories off of one meal! (if calories is what you're watching) Most of the large convenience stores like Wawa, Sheetz and Royal Farms have fruit cups and other types of healthy options if you want to munch. I have found that it truly takes a lot of planning. I'm sure you know your routes and the food options. Before you set out on your next trip, take some time to plan where you're going to stop and what you're going to get at each place. Otherwise the hunger, bordum and fatigue with make the choice for you. 😁
