The Blue Box's Journal, 14 April 2012

So I just got a new scale and I can't tell if it's accurate or not. According to my new scale, EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5" Display and "Step-On" Technology, I weigh 107.4. According to my old scale, Thinner, I weigh 109.4. My old scale is a cheap scale from Walmart and it's about 3 years old...

I guess I'm making a big deal about it, because I don't want to think I've made progress that I haven't... My fiancee loves the new scale though!

If anyone has a way to tell if my new scale is accurate, please tell!

Newer scales are always going to be more accurate. What you can do to ensure this is if you have any hand weights for exercise and place them on there and see if they weight correctly

If you don't have any weights use a newly purchased lb of margarine.

Scales are all calibrated differently so you can weigh something different on each one (they should be with in a few pounds of each other though). The type of flooring also effect a scale (should be a hard even surface). If your new scale is your "official" scale. The one you will be using regularly, than just start with the number it gives you. It doesn't take away from any weight you have lost. Take the number and run it.

Hey gals and guys, thanks for the replies! Both scales are next to each other on the same hardwood surface, so I don't think uneven flooring is the culprit. I tried putting a pair of 3lb weights on the new scale, but it wasn't enough to set it off. So I held them in my hands and I was definitely 6lbs heavier. I guess the scale is accurate, thanks again for all your help!
