RASLowder's Journal, 02 April 2012

Victories come in small packages sometimes. Today, this was my little victory:
I went out to lunch. I took forever to pick what to have so that I could get the most protein and fewest fats and carbs for my dollar and still be relatively full. I settled on a very light, very large grilled chicken salad. No cheese or croutons or bacon or anything. Just veggies and chicken with minimal ranch dressing. Yay me. But here is the big hill I climbed, which would sound stupid to someone who doesn't struggle with food...my girlfriend doesn't like cole slaw. Her sandwich came with a little 2oz. serving of slaw. I LOVE cole slaw, especially from this restaurant. lol She passed me the side and said I should eat it, b/c I like it so much. I let it sit on the table. I looked at it. It looked at me. I finished my salad. I did NOT eat the cole slaw. I WANTED to, lol....but not enought o give up those calories and fat for the day that I can put toward something like, say, my dinner. lol Instead, at the end of my work day, I rewarded myslf with 66 calories- a dark chocolate Ghirradelli square with raspberry. I probably enjoyed it more than I would have the cole slaw, and I KNOW it had fewer calories, lol.

Again, it's the little things that are going to keep me on track and motivated. And when my other friends are proud of me for NOT eating the cole slaw, it's easier to stay focused. The little things, man...the little things. FTW! :)
