I am so tempted to try a crash diet but I WILL NOT ! I really want to lose the weight and still eat the things I love - simply because I love to eat. I have started to walk on my treadmill this week. Made it to 3 days working out in the last 5 days. Need to get some discipline in eating now. I have tried some healthy foods this week but i mixed them with the unhealthy ones. I will try harder the next couple days. I have not had any soda this week and I will not have any until I could fulfill my 1st challenge of losing 5 lbs in 5 weeks.

Good luck with your new start. Well done on working out for 5 days straight.

I've found the best way to start was to find things in my diet which are calorie dense (Rice, potatoes, meat etc) and find less dense things that I could replace them with happily without losing the bulk, and the flavour.
I love butternut squash, and it works so well in almost every place that potato normally goes. I tried a trick from the low carb dieters and made cauliflower rice, which was really surprisingly good. When I have steak I only have 1/2 - 1/3 what I used to have and bulk it out with sautéed mushrooms.
