NTech's Journal, 29 August 2017

I’m so frustrated. I’ve been doing the yogurt and chicken thing (usually) and it’s not working. I’m getting 10,000 steps in a day, and still nothing. I keep my calories under 1200 (usually) and nothing. What else can I do? Feel like nothing is ever going to work and this is as low as I can go. I’m not giving up, but I am really disappointed that I’m not any closer to starting this surrogacy journey.

What's your height, weight, age? Any other exercises you do?

thatsubieguy89 - I'm 5'4", 193 lbs, almost 34. I don't do much other stuff for exercise. I've found that when I ramp up the excercise I become ravenous and can't control myself with food. I also work about 50 hours a week, and when I'm home with my 3 young kids, my husband is at class until 10 pm. So, not to make excuses, but I can't just go to a gym or do much real working out since my kids interrupt me constantly. I'm trying to do what I can.

Time is also a factor and gets in the way a lot. All about adapting and telling yourself how bad do you want it. The best advice I can give you is to ease into diet changes. You will be less compulsive to eat unhealthy and your body will be happier and adapt. For example when I went heavy into my cutting season my energy levels were shot for a week. I started slow and tapered off and I'm seeing nothing but progress. Remember you need carbs for energy, fats for hormone regulation and protein for muscle fuel. Guys and girls at work have had a lot of success with home workouts like beach body. Even the kids get involved. If you do that and track your intake, you'll make progress. I would start with a carb intake of no more than 150g/day and see how you feel. Then adjust from there. Simplest way to do it imo vs getting into keto, etc.

I'm not an evangelist for this woe (way of eating), but subieguy is right: keto will be your quickest option. With no exercise. And probably more calories than you've been eating, at least while you're adapting. The learning curve is fierce, but so far very worth it for me. My calories to maintain while doing keto are MUCH higher than when I'm eating relatively low carb. Great if you like bacon, won't miss feeling hungry, and don't mind seeing defined abs! :-)

Oh, and he's also right to ease into it. Don't cold-start keto, certainly not in a diet mentality. He'll have tips for easing in, as will people here who've already got the ropes down. I'm still in the knee-scraping phase, to mix metaphors. Look up Bluecoaster, among others.

How much protein are you eating? Should be 30 gms per meal for optimum. Minimum 1 gm per kg of body weight incorporated into your 1200 calorie count.

You may be way under calories & your has slowed too much. Do some reading on reverse dieting. I'm not saying that is the case, but it sounds live way way too few calories to me.
