misterbee's Journal, 23 June 2017

Well, nearly two weeks (11 Days) since my last weigh in, though I do set it to 14 days usually, so technically, I am 3 days early I suppose...

Another week of eating what I like, no curry this week, and a few less pies, but still some, fewer MaccyDees but still been more than once, made a few little changes, nothing major, just...still sold on the no magic required, no complicated regime required and deffo no diet foods of any description, if I want a choccy snack I will have the real thing thanks...I had 3 Toffee Crisps in one day too, naughty, crappy, but quite nice it was...

Anyway, pleased with that, I should write a new book about the fast food and convenience diet possibly...haha...RDI is king in my plan, that's it, I am getting better and better at seeing more reasonable portion sizes, I know the calorific value of most of the food I eat regularly now and have managed to keep myself within my limit most days, though not always.

Basically I figure, eat less than I burn more often than not, move about when I can, and enjoy your food where poss and include some of the stuff you love...and absolutely no need to feel bad or push myself onto a beat up and guilt trip about having a so-called 'rough' day or week, last week is gone, yesterday was yesterday and today is a new day and a new challenge, so I figure, there are no rough days really, just different days, so I just move on and do not let yesterday hamper or strangle my efforts today...

As I say, this is a game of averages and this is what matters over the long term, the week by week analysis is too sporadic to get upset about and too short term to be basing your overall success and emotional state upon. As long as you are going down (or up in some cases) in the long term, then you are doing ok, I aim for a loss of 1lb a week and so far I have been really lucky to have not seen too many weeks with no loss or upwards turn, so my average is currently above my initial aim, but then I have a long way to go, so as long as I maintain a 1lb Avg over time, I am happy and will still be happy.

I am saving my last McDonalds of the week for Sunday, I am working Sunday, doing some System Admin stuff, which is a nice thing cos the office will be pretty much empty, so figured I will have a burger or two for lunch on Sunday whilst waiting for the servers to finish running their jobs...

Best wishes to everyone and hope a great weekend is your next stop...

I follow a ketogenic diet. I no longer crave any milk chocolate stuff like toffee crisp. I tried one a while back and it tasted just sweet - no flavour. I've found since I started this way of eating that I don't actually like potatoes - I used to love my chips (I thought) and jacket potatoes. I love being able to have lots of butter, eggs, bacon, beefburgers - I just don't eat the bun. As you've seen I've got off my diabetes medication - I've been a type 2 diabetic for 17 - insulin, of course, puts weight on you. In fact as a type 2 we suffer from too much insulin (hyperinsulinemia) so taking insulin is actually making you 'more' diabetic. Have you seen any of www.dietdoctor.com of Dr Jason Fung - he's a Canadian Nephrologist who was sick of having to put type 2s on dialysis - he's now treating Insulin resistance instead by sensible - real food eating and intermittent fasting - all without feeling hungry. PS Where in the SE are you? I'm near Tonbridge/Tonbridge Wells

Well done, Neil! I agree with you, you can eat anything you like as long as you watch the portions. In fact I think eating what you like is the key to success 😀

Hi Heidi, I stopped dieting and 'regiming' because there was always a downside to it, and I understand some folks have specific requirements for diet, but I am not in that category, though some would argue being a diabetic puts me into that category, I know that in truth, the best thing I can do for my Diabetes, is losing some weight and fat and it really does not matter how I go about that to a large extent...It has taken me a while to accept that limiting your intake, no matter how you go about it, is really the key, and this time around staying on track has been so much easier, because I am so much happier with my choices and plans and thus, much less stressed about it all, my mind is in a much better place...and the good bit, I feel I can actually do this for the long term and for the rest of my life, as in truth all I am doing is just eating a bit less and not being so greedy and knowing that if I want a pie or to have fish and chips with my mum n dad, or a cream tea somewhere, I can, and it won't hurt me in the long run just so long as I keep to my 'averages' and have some idea about the amount I am eating...Think I will go for a Big Mac then, haha...
