I never knew not weighing would be so hard. I can't help but think what if I gain weight instead? What if all my progress is lost? It is such a mental battle. I'm not sure I can go a whole month but I am trying.

It is a challenge called No Weigh May that I am taking a part of. I am doing it to break my obsession with the scale.😊

Oh girl I know what you mean! I am so obsessed with whether I've lost a pound or two that when I don't I get mad and eat! I think that I am going to take the No Weigh May challenge and see how I do. I am already on the low carb, high fat diet, even though I try to keep my fats to around 20g per day. I am so happy with your progress! You give me encouragement!

I have a small solution that my sister recommended. I also feel that way about the scale, but if you are consciously trying to not weigh yourself, you could always measure the points you wanna lose weight from. No, it does not give you the scales numbers, but inches or cm lost is still progress. :)

How come nobody wants to weigh themselves?

I have started measuring myself more. I am only not weighing myself for this challenge in hopes I can break the habit of weighing daily and sometimes even a couple times a day. I will start weighing once a week afterwards. I have become too obsessed with numbers and less focused on being healthy and that's not what I want.

Avoiding the scale seems counterproductive. If you are actually gaining weight, a daily weigh in can nip that in the bud. If you are dieting everyday, weigh yourself everyday. This is a numbers & measurement project, not a wish upon a star hope. Daily scale anxiety is not worth waiting for the magical mystery number in 30 days, IMO.

Soonsoonsoon, that does make a lot of sense.

I like the Challenge you are doing to help with the scale obsession. Use a tape measure, your clothes, and whether you feel better as guides. And, you could have someone measure your body fat with a caliper to see true progress. Scale numbers do not tell the whole story. Good Luck!

I went 10 weeks without weighing as I was trying to gain muscle/lose fat. Success! This time it's been almost 3 weeks. I won't be weighing til the end of this month. I use my clothes as a guide and how I feel in general...

I having All May Weigh! I have been ignoring the scale for too long. Like Soonsoonsoon suggested, hoping has not gotten me where I want to be. Weighing regularly helps keep my head in the game. Then again, if you started out obsessed with the scale, you are coming at this from the opposite direction... Good luck. :)

I disagree with HCB on the tape measure/calipers approach; it is the same thing as the scale in terms of "obsession." Don't swap one "addiction" for another!

Good job. It may not be easy at first but you know in your heart if you're following your plan, and if so the real permanent weight will come off and not the water weight you see from day to day. You must burn off 3500 cal. more than you take in to lose a lb. of weight and unless you are a marathon runner I doubt if many people burn that many plus what they take in on a daily basis. You can always play with the scale but I guaranty that you will lose in the end and drive yourself crazy in the process. Stay on your path and you will be rewarded.

This is the first I've heard of No Weigh May, though I'm already unofficially participating because of unrelated circumstances. I can definitely see a benefit in temporarily getting away from the numbers and instead focusing on how you look and feel. I hope you can stick with it!

From what i've read, the French are more inclined to measure weight-goals with clothing (is it snug?, is it loose?) or with a measuring tape (usually around the waist). In truth. So much of my weight loss desires revolve around how I look in clothes anyway.

I had a Dr's appointment this past Tuesday and I feel like he sabotaged me by putting me on a scale, but Tuesday was only the second so I guess it's early enough that I can get past it and continue the rest of the month without weighing
