mskestrela's Journal, 07 April 2017

Well, I figured out what made people so whacko Wednesday. It seems we had a magnetic storm from a CME (solar flare or Coronal Mass Ejection) from the sun. I follow a channel on YouTube that analyzes space weather, and correlates it to events on Earth. Evidently, magnetic storms are responsible for quite a few medical conditions in humans, including heart attack, stroke, and exacerbation of mental illness symptoms. (Side note: they have also launched an app that predicts earthquakes, magnitude 6+, based on space weather. Currently, it accurately predicts 80%+, not only day, but general location.) Ooops....my geek side is showing.
For you scale watchers, a cautionary tale. Yesterday, my meals were on point, and I had a good 'pipe clearing' from MCT oil, yet, this morning, my weight on awakening was up 1.5 lbs. After sitting on my duff for 4 hours catching up on email, etc., I was getting ready for work, and weighed again, after breakfast and 2 cups of coffee. Down 1.5 lbs. Makes no sense mathematically, but lots of sense metabolically.
Work today was smooth, and after a wonderful meditation session early this morning, I met the world with equanimity. I was busy, but not frantic, and I did some really good work.
I've been noticing that as I focus on my physical self, my attention to my spiritual Self has been suffering. BALANCE is key. I will spend more time on my spiritual practice, and things that make my soul happy, as I continue on this journey.
Right now, my neighbor is mowing my lawn for the first time since Winter began, and the smells coming in the window are divine! Is there anything more grounding than the smell of new-mown grass?
Feeling peaceful and wishing you the same,
~Kes

Fascinating! Wednesday is the day I broke free from my TRAP. I want to think of an acronym for trap that means eating all the worst food, never getting full, gaining weight, and not caring. Oh yeah, but you are spot on. We need balance.

Nice to see you back, Barb! @LadyinDenim, how about Totally Rejecting Awesome Priorities (or, alternately Possibilities)? Anyway, I'm happy to see you here, too!

When your blood glucose level goes up, it triggers hunger hormones. So as you're gaining weight, you're hungrier and hungrier for glucose producing foods. How about Triggering Real Addictive Pathways. We've all been there!

Or a more positive spin: Trajectory Refocused After Pitfall.

The positive one is good, too. You have a gift for this. It's no wonder you spawned a writer!

Oprah & Deepak's 21-Day Meditation Experience is a free course beginning in two days time if you're interested. I've been doing them for some years now. You might also be interested in the app "the meaning of life experiment" with Ashok Gupta (meditations and an online course). Both are free, which is always good 😊

Oh, Yeah! Great meaning for the acronym! Erika, FTW!!!! @Doobrie, I've done them in the past, but there's something about Deepak's voice that puts me to sleep instantly! LOL. It's a shame, because I love what he has to say. I'll look into Gupta's app, for sure. Have you heard of "Journey To The Wild Divine"? It's a biofeedback game that allows you to travel through a mystical land, and accomplish feats by training your heartbeat, breathing and energy control. I've been using it for probably 12 years.

Well, yes, I sometimes fall asleep listening to Deepak too, unless I do the meditations first thing in the morning. I haven't heard of Journey to the Wild Divine - I'll look it up. Thanks 🙂.
