lostwaistline's Journal, 22 January 2012

Up and down goes the scale. Feeling discouraged but know that I am sticking to the plan to a 't'. Drinking my water - eating all the right foods etc. I have been on track for 6 weeks now and especially for the past 2 weeks with no real weight loss.

So, I begin to think:

- did I really lose weight or is it just water loss?
- should I switch to the lean cuisine prepared dinners?
- should I do low fat thing?
- I will never reach my goal - who am I to think that I could do this?
- I suck
- Stick with it!
- Eat pizza

and the craziness continues in my mind! I know that prepared foods are not the answer - I know that low fat doesn't work for me (i get way too hungry) I know that I CAN do this, I don't suck and pizza is not the answer!

Just the psychological games that go with change and no immediate rewards.

I think I will put on my pants that I was wearing when I started this journey for reinforcement - then grocery shopping to plan for the next week!

Hate to say this, but you might not be eating enough! Looking back to your weight loss history in December, it appears from the entries that you had, your kcals were near 1000. Recently you are in the mid hundreds. You might be starving yourself - and your body is storing fat instead of shedding (it knows to do this when it lacks enough food to survive). Not an Adkins follower (meaning I dont know the diet (except its low carb/high protien) but I dont think its a starvation diet. I am not a doctor (far from it) but please try and read up on it - search for "starvation mode" on google/yahoo/bing. You can do it!

Thanks for that. I just find it hard to eat so much on this plan - I did do a great job today and added some berries. So, I will eat more!! Good point!

Hang in there lostwaistline! It will happen if you keep trying. I am sure you have heard of others at plateau's. And yes, you might want to bump up your cals a bit more. They told my wife 1200 a day for a woman at the nutritionist, and I read that number on here a lot. I too have been teetering around the same weight too long, but I am doing some thing wrong and I know it (beer and food). lol

Hi Posterchild! Thank you again for your great words of encouragement. I am going to make an effort to eat more! It can be quite easy if I factor in a few almonds etc. Ahhh, the battle of weight is so darned hard at times. We shall get there! Hope things are going well at your end of the world!

I can understand the not wanting to eat the right amount of calories. Some days I fight to get to 800 (like today) and its mostly the not planning anything bit. It feels crazy to make myself go eat something when I'm not really hungry just because I know I need the calories but it does help. The one minute muffin has helped me start off my day better since they're about 600 calories alone but with the fiber content they're still great for watching carbs. I also like to add a bit of peanut butter to them to up the fat content and a 1/4 tsp of baking powder to make it fluffier. Its in my cook book if you want it!

@ Dani_Suave: Thank you very much for the recipe! Definitely will try that. I find that busy days - when I don't have access to my lunch etc. - are the hardest days to fit things in. I have started to add a small amount of coconut greek yogurt with berries to pump up the calories - and the carbs - but I factor that in as my only treat of the day. upward and onward! Will weigh in on Thursday to see how it goes!!
