J9 Clark's Journal, 05 February 2017

So chuffed....................lost 3lb on my first week of calorie counting, slow and steady.....that's the way I want it to go. I realise there will be good and bad weeks.......
What I have realised this week though is not just mine but my whole families portion sizes have crept back up again........I can't believe how much we are/where eating in an evening meal! That's the good thing about recording what you are putting on your plate .....it makes you think and realise the size of the portions. My portion sizes can go down even more to be honest......xx

Well done and remember don't get too disheartened if there is very little or no loss some weeks. It happens to all FS dudes!! Stay positive. x

Oh well done indeed. That is not what I would call a “slow” loss that is a fantastic loss. As for portions sizes, I had the same problem large plate so load it up and it will all go down no problem. My wife then clicked, large plate smaller portion looks so little The penny dropped, CHANGE THE PLATE !! We now use much smaller plates and the portion looks huge even though it is only half of what we put on the bigger plate. Wife reduced the portions yet again saying she didn’t want to overload the plate. IT WORKED !!!!

All sounds great and Thank you Jamjar61 for your encouragement. I do wonder if some food are more likely to promote weight loss than others though- but I love my carbs......so a bit of cereal, the odd baguette and some cake. A good thing with FS and a calorie controlled diet is - 1. I am relearning portion sizes-especially when it comes to the higher calorie not so healthy stuff, 2. becoming aware of increasing the proportion of fruit and veg and healthy snacking.

Well done I lost 2 lbs last week so a total of 7 lb now. We will keep each other motivated. Ate a bit more at weekend but I managed to eat about 2000 calories so back down to my 1200 to 1500 calories for the rest of this week.
