Feeling better today after a lost weekend of bad eating. Again. Had a giant waffle Sunday morning at a new breakfast cafe down the road from us. It went downhill from there. Made a batch of pecans roasted in butter and worcestershire sauce and ate too many of those. Then slices of ham for supper. Then 2 cookies. I'm supposed to go to my friend's house for BBQ tonight. If I can convince myself that I will not have BBQ, that would be a major victory for me. It's another obsession. I keep thinking about how wonderful it tastes. I need to focus on how bad I feel a hour later. Bloated and sick.

Maybe it's the waning of daylight hours, but I tend to get gloomy and peevish about this time of year. Going for a drive through the tornado-wasted countryside didn't do much to lift our spirits yesterday. It led to my dreaming about my husband coming home from work to say we were under another storm warning. It has been unseasonably warm and cloudy the last couple of days. That's usually a precursor.

Two nights ago I dreamt that I was lost in a maze. It was a series of strange old buildings -- some with doors that looked like something out of Oz -- but each door led to another enclosure with another door that I'd have to find. There was no escape. Pretty obvious metaphor! Then I entered one room that was filled with designer boots, very lavishly designed and jewel-encrusted boots -- and I thought, I could make that my new career -- boot designer. Crazy has no bounds in La La Land!

Oh geez, you have to avoid those Waffle houses. They're deadly to a diet - nothing but big carby sugary gut-bombs. Your dream sounds like you need to release your inner artist.

Coco...we had ham for dinner on Saturday...it was sooo tasty. I love bone in ham. The weather here has been unseasonably warm also, and I am feeling like you...waiting for the storms that will bring the cold! Sorry that the tornadoes did so much damage, and I am sure that doesn't help your sense of well being. I love waffles and so avoid those places like the plague! Have a great week, my friend!

Rune, that is good advice. Avoid! I intended to get the healthy oat and fruit bowl, but I kept seeing all the people around me with their waffle plates and I caved. I am not ready to leave this nest.

Stef -- I wished I loved veggies as much as I love ham and waffles. It's so wrong! lol
