A favourite of our family is swordfish steaks with mango salsa. The fish is simply pan fried with a little coconut oil. I make my mango salsa with mango, tomato, cucumber, red onion, line juice and zest, fresh coriander and a little salt and pepper. I am currently a pescetarian but moving back towards vegetarian, eventually vegan.

Sounds good. Something to try for the future. I'm a bit of a lazy cook. I hope to change that. I plan to stick with this diet; I'm on a very heavy medication and my doctor has told me that a vegan diet is not for me. But my ultimate goal is to get back to my ideal weight of 58kg and I think it can get me there. Though I'm looking at a life style change, not a temporary diet.

I've been doing a low carb diet since early march, have lost 38lbs in total. I find it kills the hunger pangs and sugar craving. I love meat and fish so it works well for me.

Sorry, I've not commented before and I think I've accidentally hijacked your thread Samm72

No problem. I welcome all comments :-) Well done on the weight loss. I find if I cut carbs I'm hungry and reach for the crisps....

Salmon fillets or steaks are great with a salsa too - fresh chilli, coriander or parsley, onion, cucumber and tomato with some olive oil and wine or cider vinegar is fantastic and easy. Or any fish baked in parcels with finely sliced onion, peppers and mushrooms with a dash of white wine in it. Or a Thai-style green curry with prawns or white fish (I use cook-from-frozen fillets, defrost while I prepare and cook the sauce then chop into large pieces and cook in the sauce). I eat meat but fish is just as versatile with imagination (or failing that, Google 😉). Best of luck!

I love salmon and smoked fish. I eat rather a lot of both. But in very simple meals at the moment. But I'll be trying your curry suggestion. I ate a lot of curry. If I'm going to miss anything, it's going to be that.

Google laksa as well if you like the spices. The water will help fill you up too so I'll share something I do sometimes. Fry onion, carrot, pepper, garlic, celery - whatever suits but makes sure you weigh and count it. When cooked but not coloured, add stock cube and water. Cook for a few minutes then add finely shredded courgette (like noodles) and stir to make a space then crack an egg into the space to poach (really low heat, not boiling). Once the egg is done, fish it out with a slotted spoon and add veg and broth to the plate and enjoy! Simple, looks a mess but once you start thinking about flavours, it will become wonderful. 😉

Oops, sorry - you were asking fish. I do this with fish added towards the end with the courgette (zucchini) and an egg too if I fancy it. It's a versatile idea - mushrooms, miso, chilli, shredded cabbage, chopped broccoli ... You name it, it probably will fit but it's always an experiment and always needs recording ingredient by ingredient 👍

It sounds good with or without fish. I don't think I could eat fish every day anyway. So I'll be eating veggie meals 2/3 times a week. I guess the answer is just to experiment and find out what I like and what I don't like.
