Well I couldn't stand the suspense any longer. I decided to weigh in every 2 weeks, and today is 2 days before I officially weigh in, but I had to know how much I gained after almost 2 weeks of free eating. Now I didn't go out and eat tons of crap, but for 4 days I didn't worry about calories or carbs or sugar (boy I had lots of sugar between Oct 21 and 24) and the week prior to that my carb average was in the 50-60 range. So in reality I expected a pretty big gain. Pleased to find that I am only 2 lbs above my last weigh in. Now in the past this would have depressed me. Today it actually pleases me to know I can eat fairly freely and still work it off in a matter of days. I assume once I get to my goal weight this will be how it goes for life. I won't have to stay extremely low carb to maintain and as long as I don't let high carb eating become too frequent and I continue to exercise I can maintain the losses I've acheived.

Icy, I was wondering how it was going to work out for you.....I am pleased only the 2lbs, I think the nice thing is you are here you are not just carrying on eating I know in the past I would have done that, but being on here gets you back on track. We are all human and have to have a splurge occasionally, so congrats and keep up the good work. I hope once I get to where I want to be I will do the same and maintain.......Happy Day.....

Thanks Yvonne. My mom keeps telling me it's ok to take a bit of time off from my extreme low carb ways. Mentally it helps me not feel deprived and not elevate the forbidden foods into "nirvana" status. Physically though, my body isn't so happy with certain choices (white breads cause bloating). In the past I would have just gotten to 140 and said, well it's close enough for gov't work, so whatever. But that is how I wound up regaining everything I'd lost in the past. I'm done having my weight yo-yo from 200 to 130. My skin will never snap back and my tummy is starting to look like a shar pei dog. I won't let myself get so far gone again. Being on here helps remind me to think about what I'm shoving in my mouth every meal. Even when i was freely eating, It wasn't mindless...I was aware of what I was eating and how it affected me.

Hi Icy. I look at it the same way. Once I get to goal I hope to be able to stay low carb for the most part, but not have to worry too much about eating off plan for a day or too. But then again, I feel so icky when I am off plan I probably won't be doing it too often.

Exactly Karen. It takes awhile to transistion from listening to what our brain says we want, to actually listening to what the body is saying it wants/needs. The longer I eat healthier the more in sync my brain and body are. But not all the time.
