Started water fast today. Plan to stay on fast for a period of one to two weeks depending on how I feel. Goal is 2 lbs. lost per day which if I stay the course for 14 days amounts to 28 lbs. total and gets me under 200 lbs. After that I plan to stick with an intermittent fasting regime (36 hours just water, 12 hours high carb diet per McDougall plan).

I haven't heard McDougall for years. That plan is unlimited amounts of unprocessed carbs?

I'm 60. For half my life I've been obese or overweight because I've followed the wrong diets - Atkins and Scarsdale. They worked for a while but could never keep the weight off. Finally did a lot of research (sparked by watching Forks over Knives) and realized I was following the wrong advice. A high starch diet is what the human body is built to use. Have complete cut all oils, fats, meats, dairy, eggs, salt and sugars out of my life. Now I can eat all that I want and feel full and still lose weight! I decided to water fast for a while to speed up the weight loss and reboot my system. Kicking myself that it took 60 years to finally get it right. Better late than never... John McDougall tells the truth.

Nice job, getting rid of the sugar is pretty much consensus. Good luck going forward.
