wintersmith's Journal, 25 November 2009

Well, I've been reminded that I haven't posted in a month and making an entry the day before Thanksgiving seems appropriate.

Locally we have a Thanksgiving Day charity run called the Turkey Trot. I've signed up for the 10K at 5K runs, so I'll have 15 kilometers of running under my belt before dinner. Of course, to make sure I have the energy for that I'm trying to eat a higher number of carbohydrates today, so pasta tonight and I'll try to put something together at lunch that is appropriate to the event.

I ran a 10K last night as my final preparation run. I had it done in under and hour though I had to let my heart rate get above 150 (peak at 161). That is still a really comfortable range for me, so we'll just have to see how I do tomorrow is I push myself a little. I keep my heart rate low to make sure I'm in the aerobic exercise zone (which, in theory, will help me burn some fat...).

Unfortunately I could not convince friends or family to run with me. I'll have a couple of people cheering me on, and I gather some of my wife's dance studio members will be there, so at least I'll be able to run in company. :)

That said I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving (yes, even those of you who don't celebrate it). Stay safe, be healthy, and remember that one bad day every now and then is just fine. You'll be back on track come Friday!
