This is my Arabian mare Rosie, she has a name about a mile long, we shortened it to Rosie so we could say it all in one breath. She's 25 years old and she loves to run. The donkey is a miniature Mediterranean named LJ (short for Little Jackass) we had to give him away because he got mean, I can't tolerate mean animals, I have to be able to tend them without getting too much damage.

Rosie is indeed a beauty...Arabs age well :) We had a mare several years ago...Copper Penny shortened to... Tiny Penny! We weren't very good at the shortening ;) A bit sway back in her old age but so perky and feminine. Never had an LJ before just a buck that acted like one :) I will mess some more with photos tomorrow and see what happens...Evening!

OMG!!! When I was a girl I fell in love with the Black Stallion books!!! He was an Arabian!! I have wanted an Arabian horse ever since. Now I am probably too decrepit to climb up on one. I loved to ride as a young girl ... no training. Just wishful thinking and love horses!!!!

Wow Mom, I see we are still on the same page in reading materials, I loved the Black Stallion books. As a teenager in Texas I was what they called "Horse Crazy". While all of my friends were going on dates and taking dancing classes. I was riding horses, swimming with horses. If you didn't have a mane and tail and 4 hooves, you just did not rate my attention :)

LOL Suzy, I live tooo close to nature, before daylight this morning I went out on the porch without a light and I thought my cat Yukie was eating from his bowl, I went to scratch him and discovered that it was a possum! Eeeeeek! All he did was hiss at me and continue eating, I had to get a broom and chase him off the porch! Becca I'm glad to see you got the photo thing worked out! Thanks Lilly!

LMAO! I can just imagine you scratching a possum! Too funny. They will raid the cat food. I remember my cats would just lie around watching them eat.

I was another horse crazy Texas kid and also loved Walter Farley's (Black Stallion) books. Then life happened and I was overwhelmed with rearing our son and helping my husband make a living. I have most of Farley's books and still read them. Our son is 42 now and ex-military (he served two tours in Iraq). We live in the woods now and have a large stock pond. We see deer, foxes, coyote, squirrels, possoms, raccoons and many other wild creatures. We especially like to watch the birds and are currently waiting to see our first Painted Hunting of the season. Thought I heard one singing yesterday but never could spot it.

Horse crazy Montana girl! Checked out every book in the library, mom would come for parent teacher conference and my desk would be stuffed with horse drawings...she figured out why I was always needing more paper. Post some more photos of your furry/hairy friends :) Hows the hubby doing?

You gals are so lucky. I always wanted a horse. I read every book in the library, too. We lived in apartments. My cousins had ponies, so I lived for my visits to see them in the summers. I did some trail riding at the state parks, but that is the extent of my horsing around. LOL! *wink*

I had a Welsh/Quarter Pony named Penny when I turned 13 she was the BEST cutting horse I have ever been on before or since. She had a gallop so smooth you could take a nap while running. She was my transportation, my babysitter, my sister and my very best friend. I had no parental supervision when I got home from school so I always ditched the homework and chores and ran out to Penny, we would ride out to a lake about 8 miles away and I would unsaddle her and we would swim. Then it was dry her off and saddle back up and scoot on back home before dark. Brush her, feed her then scurry into the house to do my chores and fall in front of my homework by 10 PM, make sure it was all done because Mom got home from work at midnight and would check that everything was done and if not....we got yanked out of bed for a what's for! I wish I had 1/4 of the energy now that I had then, those were good days!

Becca, hubby is doing ok, he went back to smoking, but he is staying away from wheat and his beer (no beer in 15 years) belly has shrunk considerably. He was wearing 36 jeans which were too big everywhere else but were all that would button around his waist. Now he can get back into his 34's which fit him better in the legs and butt :)

BC, I like you already because you have good taste in books, Walter Farley and Anne McCaffrey are the ones that I started on in grade school and kept for my daughter to read. Now both of us dig through dusty old book stores trying to replace titles that have gotten too ragged with re-reading and the passage of years. She and I both mourned when the DragonLady passed. :(

LOL!, yes, what ever the problem was Suzy, it's fine now. I get up at 5:30 every day, mainly due to the call of nature, so I stay up and watch the sun rise. I like going out on my porch with coffee before the sun comes up, it's so peaceful while the world is still asleep. After sunrise I usually come in here to FS and start my day off with reminders of what I am trying to accomplish and wait for the rest of the household to wake up.

LMAO! Now see, I did not even think that, but it is the reason I wake up at 5:30 every morning on the dot!
