Becca P's Journal, 01 April 2016

While I like this drop, it is reflective of a fast and the number will balance out over the next couple of days. Though I must confess to a big smile when I saw a “6” in the number :)

When you choose to post anything personal on a public forum, you take the risk of putting your self up for observation. You don't HAVE to play... you can come here to FS, check your calories or what ever interests you, and x out. No cost, no hurt feelings if someone should happen to say something not so nice, also... no challenge. But have courage...so many folks on this forum have only good hopes for you (us). A challenge is meant to bring growth, move that comfort zone, change!

I came to FS looking for a quick, expansive calorie count site and found something more. A “tool” in the form of this community, to help me on this leg of this life, weight management, journey. Yes, I count calories. I came to realize that after many years of following (out of desperation) diet plans that said things like “ You can eat as much of ______ as you want if you just follow these few, simple rules!” that I had completely lost track of what a healthy portion looked like. I applied the “as much as you like” to all foods. Not healthy, not realistic, didn't work. Menopause hit, inflammation happened, (especially in light of my eating choices), degenerative bone disease, my weight went over 200 lbs and I must say , I experienced panic. This was looking harder and almost impossible. Almost. The days don't just go away because you accept defeat and sit down however. Tomorrow you hopefully wake up, will experience pain, must eat and make choices...so therefor you must devise a plan. Another one.

Some may be inclined to analyze my food logs, exercises, share what they believe is right, scientific, crazy, sane...have at it kids :) I say all of this with no intention to offend anyone, ever. My posts here on FS will most likely be brief, (unlike this one! :) ) and encouraging (even if it's acknowledging the red arrow, frustration at a gain in weight or no movement) :/ I in turn will not be offended at posts on diet, theories, etc. but I will probably not play when the debates arise and a few are bent on “being right” over being kind. We really need more” Atta boys!”, “You can do this!” etc. then verbal beatings... you know... no blood! Science is amazing. Sometimes it changes as new evidence that we are just discovering comes to light. Please know that if you post how I'm doing it all wrong, quote studies, list off percentages, you'll be wasting your expertise and angry diatribes on me! :) This is fact for me..when I eat too much, my body doesn't use it as fuel efficiently and makes fat, this in turn hurts my already achy joints.. more. My experience counts for me today.

There has been much encouragement from others when someone is feeling discouraged, like giving up, erasing their history so as not to be reminded...(Don't do that!) That's good advice! I will recall that if/when the daily efforts would be easier forgotten then reviewed and revamped.
Yes, I know, I use way too many exclamation marks. And smilies.

As for me, today I will serve the Lord, my God, consume a little, yummy... fuel... and be well :) Love ya!!
