OGolly's Journal, 10 March 2016

I have learned a few things about myself: (1) I am NOT a self-motivator by nature; I really need to do something for somebody else. If left to my own devices I eat stuff and just wander around (I am retired now). Good thing I signed up to be a high school softball umpire for another year, and four hours a week at the Boise Family History Center. I have somebody else to do something for, and that keeps me going. That is the bad news for my self-esteem ... (2) My "set-point" is around 190 lbs. Or more. My body keeps wanting to go "back" to that. I need to get down to at least 180. It is going to be harder for me now that I don't have the class to go to and loose weight for my coach.

Dang! This getting older has its' drawbacks. I don't recall being so dependent when I was younger ... 'course I seem to have been an entirely different person then.

It's important to be active and involved in retirement. I think it's a positive thing you're involved with umpiring and in the history center. Connections with people and doing things for/with community are important and keep us going, not a bad thing at all, seems you're doing good with it.
