Annabelle3117's Journal, 26 February 2016

Good morning everyone!! Thank you for the support and positive comments on Monday's journal/weigh in. It is very nice to get some results for my effort.

It has been a good week, although I've been feeling awfully 'snacky'. I'd like to blame it on my TOM, which is coming to a close thank god. Still been counting calories as best as I can, except for the bite here or there. All in all my deficits have been solid enough to withstand some extra calories. I've also noticed that my losses were higher on weeks my calorie intake was a little higher, coincidence?

I have just returned home from my third gym session of the week. Forty minutes on the elliptical at resistance level seven had me at a distance of 3.5 miles, which is a new personal best for me. I was sweating bullets. I'm considering bumping up my workouts to four times per week rather than three, we will see what I have time for.

Yesterday I took my daughter across the state to see a pediatric endocrinologist. She has high thyroid antibodies in her blood. Good news, the doctor said that although having the antibodies puts her at risk for thyroid problems it doesn't necessarily mean that she ever will have those problems. Some people just have the antibodies, monitor yearly. Another issue is her high insulin levels. Glucose is fine for now, but her body is using a lot more insulin to keep it that way. We have been watching the carbs and staying active, monitor yearly on that as well. She is at an increased risk of developing type two diabetes. Blows my mind because literally no one in the family has thyroid problems or diabetes. Where did this kid come from? Concerned for her, trying to educate her on the importance of preventing disease but it's not easy to convince an eleven year old. She is slightly overweight but not obese by any means. Her PCP said that she is right on her growth curve and will probably hit a max height of 5 foot nine inches. Four inches taller than her mother. I don't understand why she is having these problems, I was easily over two hundred pounds when I was her age... So I provide the healthy meals, the education and encourage her to go to the gym with my husband or I and swim or walk the track.

I's been a busy week. I have one hundred and one things to do before I go to work at 2:30 this afternoon lol. I guess I best get on it.

Have a great weekend buddies!!

That is promising news about your daughter. And you are being a great example to her. You rock Yolanda! Awesome job on the elliptical too!

Your example is the best thing you can do for your daughter, and I think you are a shining example! So good for you!

Revel in those results! I think it is great that you are concerned about not only your daughter's health, but also her lifestyle, even at her young age. When I was that age my parents let me eat chips and drink soda in front of the TV for hours after school. Love my parents, they and I have both changed our ways - but it is definitely harder to make healthy choices after years of bad habits!
