Candykain11's Journal, 08 February 2016

I'm starting my journey today. I put on 12 pounds in December and I'm starting to get depressed. I want to lose 35 pounds. I think it will also help my blood sugar which is borderline but it needs to be normal. I am setting a goal of doing some type of exercise every day.

First of all congrats on staring your lifestyle change. It's not going to fun all the time but in due time it will be!! Your goals are similar to mine. Last year I was my heaviest @ 160! I'm 5'4 and 38. I started around August to get fit. I didn't want to get skinny, but toned. I swam fifty laps give or take in 20 mins 3-4 times a week and I started green tea. I also added apple cider vinegar to my teas which I drank four a day. I went to one blk coffee in the mornings. I kept a hand written journal for three months. I did not count cals I just wrote everything down. I lost 20 lbs in those three months. Then in November I stopped everything but the tea. I put on 9lbs. Jan this year I cut my cals and do the 30 mins a day workout. I'm down 8 lbs and haven't seen the 130s in at least a decade. There's an 8 fit app that I use which helps me stay on track and it's easy if you have a smart phone. Fatsecret is great for me. Before I eat anything I'm on here figuring out the percentages! I also ditched the alcohol which I used to indulge in frequently! My daily caloric cals are 1000 I try to eat "clean" foods with only a few ingredients and I allow bread once a week and if I do pizza I do only two. Last night I did one but cut it in half to make two, I was so proud of myself. Lol. Anyway, good luck and stick to it.

Welcome to the site! This is the place to be for what you want to accomplish. Great people here and excellent online tools to use. I have found it essential to measure and log all my food and would strongly suggest you do that, regardless of the eating plan you intend to follow. That's the only way to really know what you're eating. Exercise is wonderful and an important part of being healthy, but also realize that 80% of weight loss is done by diet. Take it one day at a time and if you mess up don't give up. Just get back on plan, back on the journey. Wishing you lots of success, you can do this!
