Starting to get fed up with being stuck at 160lbs for the past three days. Even though my grandmother says I'm really toning up, I'd like the number to change on the scale already. At this rate, I may not accomplish that 30 by Oct30 challenge. So extremely disappointing. Suggestions anyone?

Change up something in your diet -- add some extra protein, exercise at a different time ... the change will move your body out of the plateau. I was stuck at the same number for 6 days. I added 15 minutes of chair exercise in the afternoon, two days later, down 3.4 lbss! As you change your eating habits, your body gets into a rut... changing things up will move it out of that mode and into loss again.

The bad part about trying to lose a certain number by a certain date is the fact that we control how much our bodies will lose and if we don't reach the number, we get discouraged. So I try to take it 5 pounds at a time. On the other hand, you may wake up tomorrow 4 pounds lighter. Lean protein and high fiber foods will help keep the scale going. You might try eating 5 or 6 smaller meals with some protein at each meal to keep your metabolism going. Stay hydrated to flush out sodium. Watch how many processed foods you're eating. They contain a lot of sodium. Switch up exercise. Up your intensity or duration. Try a new exercise class or dvd. Losing weight isn't an exact science and many things factor in to losing. So remember that no matter how much you lose by that date, you will still be doing great. Good luck though!

I never really started losing weight until I calculated my recommended daily intake (RDI) of calories and then held below that RDI and above 1200 calories. You really need to measure and count calories. It's the only way know what you really ate.
