MichelleNRGIZED's Journal, 06 February 2016

OK, so go figure this out! This week I realised that I can fit into pants that I've not been able to fit into for ages!! So that's great, but I gained weight since the last time I weighed in here a few weeks ago. However, it is getting to be that time of the month, & so it's probably just the usual weight gain from that, along with muscle gain since that weighs more than fat. I've been walking almost every day - I'll be going out for one in an hour or so - & eating much healthier than I was. So I am doing well. I'm not worried about this gain - as I said, it's probably the development of muscles along with the usual gain at that time of the month. I was going down before, &, as I said, I can fit into clothes that I couldn't wear even a couple of weeks ago. So my size is going in the right direction, & that's a better gauge than my weight. Yeah! :D
208.3 lb Lost so far: 5.5 lb.    Still to go: 67.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 1.1 lb a week

Glad to see you are doing so well with exercise and food! Your weight gain probably is just TOM.

Thanks, heidij. That's what I figure, along with muscle gain, since that weighs more than fat. :)

Good for you sometimes the scale is not your friend but a tape measure is lol

I recommend going by weekly lows, and using a fixed reference day. We can easily have 5 lb swings just from increased carb/sodium intake. It's no fat gain, but you will get significant water retention and water weight from increased glycogen storage. Or on the opposite end of the spectrum, completely depleted glycogen stores. If you weigh yourself after say your sunday pasta night(if you have one), then reference that monday after every pasta night and don't put much emphasis on the other days. If you weight yourself every friday(5 days after your pasta night), then only pay attention to your friday weight. Consistency is the most important thing to track weight loss.

Exactly, Kelly! That's what I'm finding more & more over time. :) wulfio, thanks. I only weigh myself on Saturday mornings, but I don't always record it here. My diet's pretty consistent as far as how much of different things I take in. As I said in this journal entry, I think that the weight gain's from a combination of muscle increase & that time of the month, both of which always affect me. Because they're happening at the same time, it bumped my weight up more than I'd hoped. Besides, weight's not the main factor, although it is definitely important to track. Thanks again! :)
