I weighed myself today, &, while I am up from the last time I recorded my weight here, I am down from the few times I've weighed myself since then. I know that I said I wouldn't be weighing myself during the initial logging period, but I did a few times just to see where things stood as a curiosity. I've gone down 0.6 grams the past couple of days, & that's cool.

I'm making Saturday my weigh in day. If I'm working, then I'll weigh myself when I get up. I like the last day of the week as my weigh in day.

So, yeah! Now I know where I am & that things seem to be going the right way.

While I'm not focussing on weight as the sole indicator of my progress, & as I say to others that it shouldn't be, it's still an important thing. I just don't think it should be considered the end all be all of health & fitness.

I'm logging my food elsewhere since I'm used to that place.

Copied from another health & fitness site. The photo to which I refer below is for my supper today.

So, a little while ago today, I shared that, starting today, I'm starting to track. For now, as do lots of people, I'm going to just track my food & exercise for about two weeks or so to see where I am starting out with my eating. I've made some changes recently & am eating healthier overall than I had for quite a while, but I'm curious to see if it's really as healthy as I think it is.

I think that a lot of people do this kind of tracking for about a week, but I want to do this for two weeks just to give myself a proper chance to really examine my diet & to truly see how I'm doing.

Today just happens to be a day in which I'm having good, balanced meals, but not every day is like this. So doing this for two or so weeks will allow me to get a good look at things.

I've started going for short walks to get back to moving outside work, since I stopped that when I got my car.

As my dad said yesterday, I really need to be intentional about my exercise. It's not a need for doing things as it was before my car came into my life, & so it's something I have to decide to do whether I want to or not.

So the next two weeks or so will have quite an interesting record of what I consume & do food- & exercise-wise.

The food pictured here is Chef's Plate Creamy Mushroom 🍄 Pasta. It's so good! At least if you like mushrooms. I don't like mushrooms - I LOVE mushrooms. Yum!

Whoever came up with the idea of Chef's Plate & other companies like it had a fantastic idea. A lot of people want to cook healthily but can't necessarily go shopping for supplies. Some do have the time but aren't quite sure what to make. Being able to peruse a list of dishes for any given week & choose a couple of things is cool.

For me it's not a matter of being too busy to shop. I have plenty of time for that. Rather, it's a way for me to push myself to try new dishes. The one today isn't completely new to me, although I've not put spinach in a dish, & I don't use onions as a rule - I really don't like them - unless a recipe calls for them. I used just half the onion that came with the supplies, or else it would've been too "onion-y" for me.

Chef's Plate won't be a weekly thing for me, but it's something nice to have as an option if I want. It's a bit too much for me to spend every week. But I had a discount for this, being my first time & having been referred by a friend.

Anyway, it's just another thing I've been trying since I turned 50. Yeah! 😁🤓

The other meal for which they sent me supplies is a turkey 🦃 chilli. That'll be interesting since turkey's not my favourite meat, but I'm willing to try it out.

So, yeah! We shall see how the next two weeks work out. I won't weigh myself during this time. That can wait until the end to get an idea of how things have gone.

I copied this from another health & fitness app I use.

I recently bought a digital scale on Amazon, & the link to it is below. I picked it up at the post office today and I weighed myself after calibrating it.

When I ordered it, I decided to wait to weigh myself 'til it came because I knew it'd be a lot more accurate than the scale I already had, which is an old fashioned analogue scale.

With my old scale, which wasn't the most accurate, there was always some wiggle room as far as what the weight showing up actually was. With my new scale, it'll be right there, in all its blue LCD digital glory.

I already knew that I was at my highest weight ever because of the current size of clothes I'm wearing as well as other factors, but to actually see the number? Wow!! It's another eye opening moment for me.

Since that one post, I have been moving a bit more. So that's a good start.

If for no other reason, I need to lose weight & decrease my size for health reasons, & that's the best reason of all.

So here goes!! 🤗🌞

I posted this elsewhere, & wo one or two things refer to that place. Otherwise, the rest is relevant.

Last year wasn't really all that bad overall for me, but then, unlike a lot of people, I didn't stop working. I got a new-to-me-car. I started getting more per hour at work. No one in my family has had any problems of note.

So, yeah. I'm not complaining about 2020 or care whether it's over or not, unlike a lot of people.

I don't say any of this to make anyone feel bad, & I'm not trying to gloat or the like. My heart goes out to everyone who's had suffering & bad times in 2020, or at any time. I've had my share in my 50 - almost 52 years (in March) - of life.

The reason I'm mentioning this is because, despite it being a good year for me, it has had it's bad stuff. Namely, weight gain. I didn't get out nearly as much as I wanted, & I didn't move nearly as much as I should have. I got so used to using my car that it became my first choice, even if a 20 minute walk to the post office to check the mail on a nice day would've been a perfectly good option.

I have no one to blame but myself, but I also have the choice to get up off my derriere & move more.

So I decided that's what I shall do.

These days the weather's miserable & I'm going to walk out in the rain except to & from work since I live so close & it doesn't pay for me to drive to work. Despite what gets recorded here time-wise for my morning & night walks, it's actually only a 2 1/2 minute walk between home & work.

Here at work I sit too much if it's not a busy night, but I'm going to change that. I hurt my hip a while ago by stumbling at home, so that I wouldn't step on my cat, & so the stairs are out of the question right now, but I'll work up to them.

For now, though, I'll start with just getting up & walking the halls a lot more often so that I'm actually moving.

After the last shift of each set of shifts, I'm going to walk an indirect way home to move more.

This is not a New Year's resolution - they've not been part of my life for years - but it is a decision that just happens to've been made at the beginning of a year. haha

So, yeah! I don't know where any of you are at, but I hope everyone here is well & COVID-19 free.

Happy 2021, everyone! 🤗🎉
