Just saying Hello, and encouraging you to stick with the plan. You asked about low carbs, but my diet is not low carbs at all. Someone did comment (Big Gus, I think) that I was doing "everything wrong", because about half of what I eat is carbohydrate. I eat whole grain bread (often 2 per day), 1 crumpet in the morning, and 2 pieces of fruit (sometimes more). Apart from that, I eat vegetables, often by making vegetable soup in a soup-maker, and also by buying microwave vegetable packs. I always have a supply of raw carrots to munch on. When I am feeling 'strong', I can have one of these instead of going for another yoghurt. The (Chobani) yoghurts are lowish in calories, but have fruit for sweetness. I also have some low (-ish) calorie muesli bars in the cupboard, which I try to only eat when really desperate. The Uncle Toby's Choc Chip crunchy bar is 88 calories. I try to stay around, or under, 90% for the day, but often don't make it. Occasionally, I reach 70 or 80%, but not very often. One thing that I have definitely found is that moving around is much easier with the lost kilos. This makes it less onerous to get up out of my comfy chair, or to face a 10 minute walk to the corner and back. Anyway, I'll say a prayer for you, especially for you to stay on track. God bless.

ThankCubs ladies, I am feeling a bit better today and more in controll. Thanks for your help ladies I appreciate it very much I have decided instead of going extremely low carb I will just lower them a bit and watch my sugars. I have bought myself some colouring books (adults) and pencils to take my mind off things. I will not give up, one day at a time. .

Thanks Chobbzy, do you mean eat no carbs at all, sorry I am a little confused. I am diabetic but not on medication. I was going to try and keep my carbs under 100 grams a day.

My mum is diabetic. Her sugar levels are high. Eat mainly protein and veg and if you want a slice of toast it's fine for breakfast but no later, and not every day...

but have a cheat day once a week just so that you can have a bowl of pasta, or some pizza - just to keep you motivated. Your diet should consist of fresh veggies and protein on a low carb -especially in the evenings.

I eat carbs but very little, have been a diabetic for some 20 years now and use insulin, and over the years I have found its carbs that is a diabetics worst enemy, reduce them and your numbers will get better The brain needs energy to function in normal people they get the energy from carbs, but if your carb count is low then the body will convert protien into energy and use that instead, just make sure you stay away from processed foods or (cream of) type foods. 100g per day would be way to high for me but maybe ok for you, just keep a close eye on your numbers, if they are ok at 100g a day then stick with that, if your numbers are going up then reduce your daily intake of carbs until your numbers become stable.

One of the most diffrent ways of limiting my carbs was cauliflower rice... I now have potato, pasta ir rice only once a week and replace with cauliflower rice and spinach.

I do the cauliflower rice and julienned zuchini for pasta...as with regular rice & pasta they take on the flavour of what ever they accompany...they would have to contain more noutrients so that's a bonus.

Carbs are great as long as you keep to your calorie limit. Gives you energy for activities like exercise. I recommend you do some weights 3 times a week

Happens to all of us. I am currently doing a low carb high fat diet, and I find that eating that way (think avocado, eggs, etc..) fills me up and leaves me not wanting to eat bread or pasta. There is also a new product on the market called protein bread. You make it up in a cake tin, and cut it. Only 1.5 grams of carbs per serve. I also like the Atkins products, which are low in carbs as well. Slim noodles (if you are in Australia) are really great - they take some time getting used to - but made with konjac noodles. The low carb world has gotten really good in the last few years. It does work, but takes patience. You will get there :)
