Mistaya4u's Journal, 27 November 2015

I made it through the holiday without the guilt. My family lives in another state and I wasn't able to get home for Thanksgiving, so I was alone. As has become my Thanksgiving tradition since college, I served breakfast at the Mission and then peeled 4 very large bags of potatoes for their lunch and dinner later in the day. When I got home, I watched a ton of Christmas movies and cooked. I made green beans, ham and potatoes in my crockpot, some cranberry orange fruit jello mold using the sugar free jello [worked like a charm], hard-boiled some eggs for deviled eggs and for my salads later this weekend, and made a butternut squash custard pie sans crust. I also ate a small salad before cooking to make sure I didn't nibble while cooking. I baked 2 Maryland crab cakes [lots of crab, no breading & only enough filling to hold them together], one for the holiday and one for my lunch today. When I sat down to eat, I had candlelight, this lovely dinner on my good china and a glass of cranberry wine. The only thing that would have made the meal better would have been to share it with family! It was a relaxing and pleasant holiday all-in-all and I am thankful for the bounty and the blessings I have. I intend to run one small errand today, but other than that, I intend to stay away from the craziness that is Black Friday and relax. Hope your holiday was wonderful in every way and blessed beyond your wildest dreams!!

Sounded like a lovely way to spend the day -- giving, then giving 'thanks' and enjoying a wonderful meal . . .
