This is my first try at posting a photo so I apologize up front if the image is not here. So, my question is: how does one count the calories in a piece of this? It's a 6-inch vanilla cake with a minimum of 1/2-inch buttercream icing all over! And, no, I didn't take the missing piece. Hubby did that. I'm too afraid to. :-)

Well, curiosity got the best of me and I tried it. I had a piece that weighed 96 grams, 37 of which was icing. I ate the cake and less than 1/4 of of the icing. I knew there was a reason I don't eat food like this. It was not at all enjoyable. Now I feel totally icky! Hubby was more than willing to eat the rest of the icing, though.

In my opinion the calories in I pc of the yummy cake would be 400 to 500 calories not 110 a Kellogg's bar is 100 calories a normal pc of cake is very high in calories !!!! Just sayin!!!

I can't imagine what a "regular" piece of this cake would contain for calories, fat, sugar.... The little bit I tried was about 250 calories! And that is probably conservative. I'll stick with my Kellogg's snacks. ☺

Looks delish! A chocolate chip muffin at Tim Hortons is 490 calories, so a slim piece of this cake I think would be very similar.

If I eat something baked, which is almost never, as I cannot have sugar, gluten, and dairy. I make it from scratch and note every last ingredient, and their portion. multiply my total calories, carbs, etc.. with different portion sizes, and will cut them into the number of pieces that fall within the range that is suitable for my diet. A lot of calculations, but at least it's safe! Or as Jamaica posted, eating a pre calculated treat that you can have!

Now that's a cake I wouldn't touch even if I wasn't on LCHF. Artificial coloring and bad layer to icing proportion. And I bet the buttercream has the same (non)flavor all over.

Thanks Pam - it's becoming a lifestyle! I never thought of pre-calculating Little Mine, but it's a really good idea. And you are correct about the taste of the icing Dayberndt - all the same. I've had her cakes before joining FS and I couldn't get enough - especially the chocolate one. This cake, while pretty, just wasn't good.
