So what'd that going to mean for you?

Well, it will mean a lifetime of thyroid hormone medication but thankfully it also explains my health issues. It also explains why I only lost 5 pounds after exercising for 5 months. That was frustrating but now i have an answer!

I have thyroid, too. It is more challenging but not impossible. Make sure you have a good endocrinologist who treats you appropriately.

I have hypothyroidism as well. Didn't know it had a name. You can live with it. Just make sure you get the regular blood tests. Mine stops working when I stop moving. My medication dose is directly related to my exercise. Less exercise, higher dose. Imagine if you hadn't been exercising. My TSH test got all the way up to 84.6 when I couldn't afford the test and therefore couldn't get the med. We're tweaking again.

Oh wow that's high! Mine only got to 11. I have a great Dr who caught it early. Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disorder where your body attacks, and without treatment destroys, your thyroid. It results in hypothyroidism. But you can be hypothyroid without the Hashimoto's too. Thanks for the tip about exercise! Another good reason to keep on moving! Good luck with your treatment!
