Ok so I ate a bunch of carbs this morning!!! I don't know why the cravings are through the roof but I couldn't stand it! After a bowl of oatmeal some peanut butter and some chips I feel horrible. How long does it take to get back in ketosis??

Hey there, that depends to some extent on the individual. But main thing is, don't beat yourself up too much over it! It's not any kind of permanent damage, or issue, for sure. Log what you ate and carbs or not, try to stay under your daily caloric limit today. "Keep on truckin'" as they say. Also know, there may be a small, temporary gain (glycogen restorage + water), so if you do see that on the scale, the important thing is to know that's all it is, and don't let that bother you. Ruled.me has a FAQ on ketogenic dieting that talks about getting back into ketosis/turnaround time: http://www.ruled.me/ketogenic-diet-faq/

(Also, if it helps, as I recall in the old Atkins book, he estimated 2 days or so - but again, this depends on how quickly you deplete the glycogen stores, which is dependent on exercise, other foods eaten, and the individual.)

Maybe your body needed those particular carbs in the oatmeal and peanut butter. Trust yourself; as Glen said, you will find your way back! You have this!! Onward!

Oatmeal and peanut butter are good for you, the chips not so much.

You got it your listening and boy body is talking the trigger foods I call them. They get in me and I am off and losing my benifits... and stalling in weight loss. Your doing good to see it, before I joined FS- I had to wean off then totally off then slowly back on. Still happens to me with Spaghetti, all potatoes, just to name a few. Keep climbing you got the rope... Smile God bless you and yours
