Emmitt09, I found out I have diabetes in Feb. 2014. My doctor never gave me any advice just put me on 500 mg Metformin. So I searched the internet for what to eat. I wasn't happy with what some said to eat when you have diabetes. One site said 60g of carbs per meal. I knew for sure I wasn't going to do that. Then I watched a video on YouTube called "Butter makes you pants fall off" opened my eyes. I spent 2 days watching video's about Low Carb High Fat. I'm down 49 lbs, my blood work is fabulous. I changed doctors and he is all smiles. Every test on there was normal, all in the fabulous range. My A1C in 6.4. which is in the prediabetes range but I expect it will be down lower the next time I go in. It was 7.2. He said I didn't have to take the medicine anymore, even tho he said you never get over diabetes, he thinks I can control it by diet alone. Please check out Low Carb High Fat on YouTube. You see when you eat a lot of carbs your body is burning sugar for energy, and what you don't burn is stored as fat. When you take away most of the carbs and replace them with fat you body changes to burning fat for energy. I am never hungry and I have more energy than I have had in years. I dropped 8 sizes in my clothing. Went from 18 to 10 and some of the 10's are too loose and I get lost in my old XLarge things. Of course you will have to buy some new clothes! Please go to YouTube and search the LCHF stuff. If you have any questions I'll be happy to answer them. Good luck with controling your diabetes. That is the key. My sister-in-law has diabetes and she has to take insulin shots, of course she eats like she doesn't have diabetes. She's over weight and eats candy, snacks and pasta and bread, just like normal people do. Your not normal when you have diabetes, you can't eat like that anymore. Some people can't accept that and do what they need to do to control it and lose weight. For me I eat low Carb most of the time, but if it is a special occasion I will have something like cake or ice cream. I just choose not to eat that stuff everyday. Sugar is a complete no. Again Good Luck
