I'm glad I made my Fatsecret account a few years ago - it's allowed me to see the weight changes as well as what I was eating at the time, even when I haven't stuck with it.
I've also been able to see how my weight has crept up back to the point where I'm now at the heaviest point in my life again.
This time I also am armed with NerdFitness, finding that site was AWESOME :D
I had been going to the gym for quite some time and was doing twenty minutes on the stepper, then through the circuit once, then 20 min on the elliptical and then through the circuit again. Add into that the 40 minute walk each way to get there... you would think the weight was just falling off.
It wasn't. Even though I was adjusting my eating also, lowering carbs etc. But I NEEDED lots of food to get through the workouts which led to binging from time to time.
I found this workout http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2009/12/09/beginner-body-weight-workout-burn-fat-build-muscle/ at NerdFitness and started doing that at home.
Well although my weight stayed about the same, my body shape changed almost immediately - more change within two weeks of doing that workout, at home, in a little space set aside than in the many, many months at the gym.
Awesome!
I started a new job as well, working from home doing phone work and that work really drained me mentally - that and the occasional binging was still triggering mood swings. Weight started to increase, my workouts started to decrease (with the new job i found myself wanting to do nothing but play video games in my free time.)depression increased, eating correctly decreased and here I am now back at the heaviest Ive been since 2003.
Kind of like when one decides the want to quit smoking because they HATE smoking (not just to be healthy) I finally hit that point where I HATED being out of control of my eating. I had to stop hating ME and the way I looked, and loved myself enough to fight back against my binging and eating addictions.
I know how to low carb, I also know now how to do a quick effective work out.
Im making use of Fatsecret to record everything I eat. Im also using my Macro thingy from a ketogenic website to keep within my limits.
Using these tools I'me feeling really good about myself.
Loving myself enough to make those hard choices.
We'll see how it goes.
