Sugarhiccup's Journal, 21 January 2015

Reading some other peoples posts, I kept seeing references to the movie "Forks over Knives" - I was curious & watched it yesterday. Excellent documentary! Excited to start a healthier way of eating & trying to change the way I look at food in general. Also watched "Hungry for Change" & that documentary is just as good, if not better! Both very inspiring!! Both are on Netflix, fyi... So glad I found this community! Just reading everyone else's successes & struggles helps keep me going & somehow not feel alone!! Thanks!

If you like Forks Over Knives and Hungry For Change, you should also check out "Food Matters" and "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" 1 and 2. Those films helped motivate me a lot towards finding a whole-food, plant-based diet that enabled me to lose over 80 lbs and reverse my auto-immune disease.

Thanks for your suggestion Sweet2th! I did watch Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead 1 & 2 - so inspiring! I have added "Joe's Mean Green" juice to my daily diet & have already noticed a difference! Your personal story is very inspiring - just read about it yesterday!! I will check out "Food Matters" next... Thank you :)

You're welcome! I had the same disease as Joe and Phil in those movies. I love my green juice and smoothies! Also, "Super Juice Me" is another movie that illustrates how many different chronic illness can be treated with lifestyle interventions. It's quite compelling. And Katie Couric's "Fed Up" is another eye-opening documentary about our nation's food system and its role in the "diabesity" epidemic.

So awesome you could overcome that through healthy diet! It's just incredible what healthy food can do to heal the body & mind. I am just starting on my journey... for about the 3rd try since I had my daughter 6-7 yrs ago. Hopefully it will become a lifestyle for me - not just a diet. I will check out the other movies! Thank you! Always looking for info & inspiration!
