gilliansings's Journal, 13 December 2014

I haven't checked in in quite a while. Sorry! I planned to participate in a local Christmas craft fair and had LOTS of sewing and crafting to do. Then, with Thanksgiving, I spent extra time with family as my daughter visited from out-of-state with my grandsons in tow. That was a crazy few days, but wonderful.

My client of two years passed away unexpectedly the last day of November. This seriously shook me up. Thankfully, I was able to communicate with my client's daughter at length and we both agreed that her mom had had a wonderful last few weeks. I took her mom on a scenic drive and walk along the river on a beautiful 50-degree day back in early November. I made a fuss over her birthday on November 19th. I spent Thanksgiving day with her. I have no regrets. My employer treated me very well and both called me repeatedly to check on my mental state AND sent me beautiful flowers.

Things are better now. The craft fair is over. I got lots of great feedback on my handcrafted kids items (think Superhero capes, crayon caddies, tooth fairy pillows, etc.) Sales were sort of terrible, but I posted them online afterwards and have sold a few more that way.

I've maintained my weight, which makes me feel pretty good about the future. I hope everyone else is doing well and I will make a concerted effort to check in more frequently in the future (albeit not daily, lol)

Happy holidays, everyone!

Glad to see you back. I don't get here as often anymore either. So sad about your client. She sounds like she meant a lot to you. Wonderful your daughter and grandsons visited. I bet the crafts were adorable. Happy Holidays!

Thanks rockytu. I was just getting past my grief for my client when the card I sent to her daughter got returned to me "insufficient address." I had to turn the card in to the facility's office since they weren't allowed to give me the address. The envelope was partially torn, the front was written all over, and even if I had been able to obtain a new envelope for it, I still wouldn't have the correct address! I was just so sad that she would never know I was thinking about her during this period. But yes, it was wonderful to have the visit and the craft fair was a good experience (and I've sold quite a few things since).
