GlennM's Journal, 21 April 2011

Well, the first agency that read my work rejected it. So try, try again I must. I have also added in the synopsis that I will be sending out that the book contains a strong religious element throughout the story as do the other two books I wrote - as it was a the times they were in. Church attendance in Puritan New England was often mandatory. I am keeping true to the way the things were in the past. In my science fiction, there is rarely anything about religiousness as it tends to lean toward modern times and we know how they are. I may have LOTS of books done at the rate things are going when I do get published. That is when. The publishing industry tends to lean liberal as I generally am, but I told the story in the book as it was then, so people could truly get a feel for what it was like to live in times 300 years ago, I left out the tragic consequences of one woman who gave birth in the town to an illegitimate baby she was alleged to have killed because it was just too much - heavy, as the book is in a way, but those were the times and I sort of wanted to write the way they should be and always will, and if it means it may take a lot longer to get published, so be it. An acquaintance lost lots of weight, she said by walking, giving up mayo and salty and sugary snacks... thought I would put that tip in...

Thanks Bren - I will send out book 1 some more, book 2 is quite religious so may actually publish first - who knows? If I find a spiritual agent the work will get published. Sometimes one has to wait for the 'season' for things to happen. A move out of where I am might help, maybe I will just go down south once four or five books are completely done if I am not published just to get away from the negativity of my neighbors...

Added note - I added to the title of book 1 just now, two words to help explain the book much more readily. In the week ahead I will send out more query letters so will be busy with that while editing the western, and then it will be onto typing up the eight or nine short stories I have for book 4, then onto the fantasy books after that. I hope to have 4 books done by the end of the year. Sometimes, one must fail many times to succeed, Thomas Edison probably failed more than anyone and was our greatest inventor, so I will send my work out much more in the future. Be well, all. It may take 3 months, 1 year or 5 to 10 years till I am published, but I sort of believe it is my destiny so it will inevitably will happen...

I have hives from taking an herb that was recommended for allergies. I am going to drink lots of water to get it out of my system, that is what I saw on the Internet. I had Zyrtec (generic) and took that and also some Benadryl. It is much worse than yesterday, the last time I took the herb was over 36 hours ago. I see my doctor Friday anyway, for a consult for acupuncture, so he will look at me tomorrow and hopefully give me a shot of something too. I doubt that I will get much sleep tonight. At all costs avoid herbs that are specifically for allergies in my humble opinion, I learned a lesson this time...
