SkellyShelly's Journal, 07 November 2014

It's been 30 days and I've lost 10 pounds in that time just by eating 100% healthy whole foods (some cheese being the minor exception). Woo hoo! Couple the loss with the squats challenge and I can see the progress is happening! (Feel the burn!!!) I'm happy with where I am and the direction I'm going. The paleo lifestyle agrees well with me and with an occasional topping of cheese or addition of black beans or some freshly made popcorn (which I'll never give up the popcorn and that's my reality), I've stayed strictly paleo. Belly bloat is down considerably and the dress I'm wearing today will either have to be taken in or given away because it's too sloppy fitting to wear at work. (Yay but boo at the same time... love this dress, so hello sewing machine!)

The scales are now hidden (at least) for a week at a time. That obsession had to stop because it was really driving me crazy! I'm seeing results and feeling the change so I know it's working. I will now weigh in and note measurements on Sundays. The focus on food became a scale obsession and both of those are so wrong for me. Bad, bad, bad!

Generally I'm happy with everything (including all those squats). The scale is moving slow and steady, food tastes great, and I'm getting at least 30 minutes more sleep a day (that's a big improvement for me). Water consumption is where it should be, too. No cravings or desire to break the progress. Plus, it's Friday! Wootie woot! Hello weekend!!

Goal this week: workout more.
219.0 lb Lost so far: 20.0 lb.    Still to go: 44.0 lb.    Diet followed N/A.

The mirrow is your best progress report. Be sure to take some photo weekly or at least monthly. When you feel like quitting, look at the old you next to the current you and get revitalized by SEEING that it is working regardless of what the scale says!

Isn't it great to feel your clothes getting looser? (So much better than the opposite!)

What a great idea ckworksalot. It didn't even occur to me about progress photos. Guess what I'm doing tonight! lol Thanks for the support everyone. Writing a little bit every once in a while keeps me accountable and I can review my history.

My goal is to live healthier. Losing weight is just a positive side-affect of living healthy. Losing weight shouldn't be your main goal in my opinion. Congrats to you on living healthier and being a better you!! :)

I totally agree with you, sadie_eats. When I started this I wanted a lifestyle change, not a diet. Yes I was (and still am) overweight but I wanted a lifelong solution not a short term fix. Now I'm even considering making my own dog treats! They already love most of my veggies including lettuce but not raw spinach. We'll see how that goes.

Good for you. :) I made peanut butter dog treats and tuna dog treats once. It was safe for human consumption so like a chunk, I tried the batter lol.

I made some peanut butter dog treats a few weeks ago and I tried them too! Terrible, but the dogs loved them.
