Wonderful Wednesday!

Most days I'm happy with our decision to move out of our "Grand Old Lady" of a house in a small town and into the log cabin ("The Lodge") out in the woods just outside a little bit larger town. I remind myself we are closer to all but one of our 5 sons and their families and The Lodge is a grandkid magnet with trails for go-karts, hunting, campfire pit, playground, and swimming pool...BUT I miss my old house. I could polish the wood floors and oak trim, clean the windows, and make the house shine...(oh yeah, like "See kids how pretty Grandma's house is...don't touch anything!") The lodge is dark wood logs and I find they look dusty all the time...actually they ARE dusty all the time! Today my 18-year-old granddaughter is coming over to help me clean fan blades and all the up-and-down places that are hard for me to maneuver with my difficult knee/legs. It won't 'shine' like the Grand Old Lady, but it will be ready for a busy weekend with 12 adults and 16 grandchildren climbing/crawling/having fun all over the place!

One thing I don't know if I'll EVER get used to is the encroachment of wildlife on my living quarters! Yesterday it was a bat...today I smelled something so rank I was sure something had died...well, I was right...after maneuvering two different step stools around I found a dead mouse in a sticky trap on top of the cupboards in the bar area. My son must have put that trap up there during the "Great Mouse War of '14". Since I didn't know it was there I never checked it...can we all just saw Eeeewwwww! I got rid of all the other sticky traps because GoodMan and I couldn't handle getting rid of a mouse that wasn't quite dead...now this one is gone too...Yuck!

GoodMan left late this morning and messed up my morning routine of exercise bike riding before breakfast. I decided to "go with the flow" (see how good I'm getting!) and work my exercise in later in the day...which is a challenge because I want to have it done BEFORE I shower...anyway I packed up a bunch of clothes that don't fit and cleaned/dusted my bedroom so my being unshowered didn't go to waste and I plan to hit the bike as soon as I finish this post. Then it's off to the showers and on with the rest of my day until GD#2 comes to help later.

Food is going okay. I think I'll try that Quinoa Enchilada Casserole tonight and see if GD#2 likes it. I'm trying to ease myself off of caffeine so I'm drinking herbal tea with truvia. Please, please, please don't tell me there is anything wrong with that combo...I've given up Diet Coke, then Crystal Light, tried plain water and water with lemon/cucumber/other fruit and that is just not cutting it. Hopefully I can get used to the herb tea and drink enough to get enough water into my system.

Make your Wednesday what you need it to be.
